Suzi skipped in. She tripped over a rock and brushed herself off. She climbed the
tree and sat in it, her feet swaying in the wind. She sung quietly to herslef.
Kiri stepped in a river of water and began to move her arms gracefully as the water
moved around her. The river was about 10 away from Suzi.
Suzi looked at the girl in river. She knew where the deepest spot was. She climbed
to the top of the tree and jumped. Landing in the water.
"Ahh!" Kiri said as water splashed on her. "Who's there?" she called out.
"Just me" Suzi laughed and wrung her hair our. "Suzi. You?" She nodded when she replied 'Kiri'
Jake walked up to the river and watched the girls.
Suzi heard the girl. She turned around and looked at her. She splashed her slightly.
"Come."
"Okaii.." Jake said as she walked toward the river.
Suzi went under for a moment and came back up. She shook her head and the water came
off.
Jake took her shoes off and dipped her feet in the water." I'm Jake."
"Suzi. And this is Kiri."
"Hi.. " Jake said in her strong British accent she has always had.
Suzi laughed and her shoulders came forward a little. She fell in the water and came
back up. She laughed and wiped water from her face.
"I would go in the water, but I wasn't expecting to get in." Jake told them Suzi as
she watched the water.
Suzi climbed out and sat on the side. She was quiet a bit smaller than the other two
girls. "How old are you?"
"I'm 13. I am going to turn 14 next month." She replied nicely. "How old are you?"
Suzi laughed. "Younger than you."
"Oh really? How old?" Said Jake.
"Im 14. Well almost." Suzi looked away.
"Oh thats a cool age to be."
"I guess. Its okay. But we all have to go through it." .
"Well I'm 14 too.'' Kiri said.
"Thats cool."
Suzi laughed and kicked water and Kiri.
"So do you guys live around her or what?" Jake asked.
"I know want to come in the water?" Kiri asked.
Suzi looked away. "You might say that." Kiri was spacing again.
''Say what?" Kiri asked Suzi.
"I said you might say I live around here. Spacing again?"
''Oh.'' Kiri began to blush a little bit. Then she moved her arms so small waves
would form around them.
"Oh far away or close." Jake questioned.
"Close.'' Kiri said who was now standing on top of the water.
Suzi jumped in and splashed Jake with water.
"Hey Suzi!" Kiri said. Kiri sent a small wave twords Suzi.
"What? What?" She smiled mischeviously.
"Why are you smiling like that?" Kiri asked.
Suzi ignored her.
Water splashed on Jake getting the bottom her skirt wet. "So you can control water
Kiri?" Jake wondered.
"Yeah. I don't know how but it's fun.'' Kiri said.
"Sounds fun!" Suzi exclaimed.
"Its sounds fun!" Jake exclaimed!
"Mind telling me?!" Kiri demanded
"You know what I'm going to get in the water. My clothes can get wet too bad!" Jake
said and jumped into the deep water!
"How could that not be fun, controling water?" Suzi asked.
"Cool! I have advantages you know.'' she said with a sly grin.
Jake splashed Suzi and Kiri with the water."Wow this water feels great."
"Liek?" Said Suzi. She splahed herslf with water and sneezed.
Jake swims around and enjoys the water as the day becomes darker.
"Like this.'' Kira rested her hands on the water and lifted her hands up as high as
she could. In result half of the water in the river was forming a HUGE wave.
"Shit man." Suzi jumped out of the water and sat in the tree before anyone knew she
moved.
Jake saw the big wave. "Okaii your scaring me now."
"Sorry.'' Kiri said she let the wave down and splashed her.
"Thanks that was kinda creeping me out" Jake said.
Suzi sat in the tree drying off. The water was making patterns in the dirt.
"How? It's just water.'' Kiri said. She stood up on the water and began to twirl on
it.
"Water can kill you." Suzi said from the tree.
"Hey! How did you get there?" Kiri asked.
"Well when you control it like that kinda weirds me out" Jake responded.
Suzi laughed. "Ive always been good at climbing trees. And apparently getting away
from giant waves." She laughed.
"Oh well I'm sorry.'' Kiri apologized. Kiri had sunk back into the water.
"No big deal. I needed to dry off any ways." Suzi said and then sneezed.
It was starting to get dark. "Oh no its getting dark."
"I gotta go see ya!" Kiri said she gracefully floated to the shore and ran home.
Suzi climbed to another branch. "Not too bad. Ill go to sleep soon enough."
"Yahh I think I'm going to head home for the night Suzi. Its getting dark anyways."
Jake said as she started getting out of the water.
"bye." Suzi sat inbetween two tree branches and started to fall asleep. Making it very apparent she sleept in trees
Jake started her walk home. This was fun. Conseriding I don't know those two girls.
I hope mah isn't too worried about me. I probably missed dinner tho.
Suzi woke up in the morning because of a wood peker. She climbed down and washed her
face in the stream water. She sat up in the tree and wondered if the two girls would
ocme back.
"No one is here yet.'' Kiri said to herself. She stepped in the river and began to
preform a graceful and beautiful dance. The water surrounded her and formed a sphere
around her.
"Hey." Suzi said from the tree. She stretched.
Jake awoke from the smell of bacon down stairs. "Breakfast!" Jake ran downstairs.
"Ahh! Oh hello Suzi. How long were you there?" Kiri asked a little mad about her
interruption.
Jake ate her breakfast and told her mom she was going out again.
"Um." she said as she cracked her knuckles. "I dont know. When you leave?"
Jake walked toward the river where she met Kiri and Suzi. She wondered if they still
would be there.
"Hey Jake" Suzi said as she looked at her.
"Hey your here!" Jake said.
"Of course." Suzi said
Destiny was walking silently through the forest, playinng with her fingers because
of her boredom. She turned around ever npow and then to make sure no one was behind
or watching her.
Suzi was standing in the tree again. She saw the girl walking. She jumped down
watched the girl.
Destiny kinda jumped when she heard the other jump. She quickly looked around to see
if there was anyone there. "Who's there?!" She asked in a shakingly voice.
"Im sorry. Didnt mean to scare you." Suzi laughed.
Destiny seemed to be in the emberassed zone. "YOU DIDN'T SCARE ME!" She yelled still
in that shakingly voice.
"Its sure seemed like it. Its okay. Im not very skiddish but people can sneak up on
you." Suzi looked at the girl. She raiased her eyebrows
Destiny looked away in a kinda I-Don't-Care way.
"Well I sure wasn't scared and i can survive without no one..."
"Whatever. Me and two other girls are playingby the river. You should come play with
us." Suzi suggested
Jake stared at the girl.
Destiny looked dumbfounded.
"Can't play...i have more important things to do.."
"Liek what? Wandering in the forest?" Suzi wrinkled her nise
"Now who is everyone here?" Jake asked. There was new people here now.
"This is, umm." Suzi didnt know her name
"Oh well I'm going to just sit under the shade here."
"Ill be right there."
"So how are you doing Suzi?" Jake asked.
"Im fine. How about yourself?" Suzi continued to look at the girl.
"I'm fine too. When did you leave after everyone left?" Jake was staring at the girl
too.
"What? I didnt leave. Why would I leave?" Suzi was dumbfounded. Why would she leave
where she slept?
"Well don't you have a home like all the rest of us?" Jake was curious. Did this
girl not have a home?
"There is tons of kids that dont have real homes. I just dont liek being
controlled. Adults think to muchof themselvs. The answer i guess would be no."
Desire kinda sighed. "Ack...no time geez..." She said as she began to walk.
"Whatever then!" Suzi said as the girl walked away. "Come on Jake, lets go play in
the water!" Suzi ran towards the water with one last look at the girl.
Desiree was still walking she took out a pendent.
"Eh..." She whispered.
"Okaii then.." Jake got up and took her shoes off and jumped into the water.
Suzi laughed,. "Jake!" She wipped water off of her.
"Sorry I just love jumping in the water." Jake swam around the river.
Suzi stuck her tounge out. "Whatever"
Jake swam around the river. "This water feels great."
Suzi dipped her feet in. At least the girl had fogettne about her not having a
home.
Jake hated upsetting her mother. Her mom just made her these clothes the other day.
Suzi slipped in. "Aw man! That was my last dry pair!"
"You don't have any other clothes?" Jake was really interested in this girls life.
"I do. I have another pair but there wet."
" Oh well later maybe you could come to my house and I could give you some of my old
ones. I have a lot of clothes." Jake was being nice.
"Ive survived with my two pairs for years. Thanks for the offers but other kids need
clothes more than me."
Jake was a little upset that Suzi wasn't going to come to her house. "Well np.."
Suzi saw she was upset. "If you want....." She looked at her feet.
"Oh really. That would be cool!"
Suzi bit her lib "If it makes you happy."
"Well how about after we are done here you could come over. Or we could right now?"
"I dont care." Suzi kicked the water.
Jake got out of the water and sat next to Suzi.
Suzi laid back on the grass. She sighed.
"So do you wanna to my house now?" Jake asked.
"Sure.Ive got nothing better to do." Suzi sighed and got up.
"Okaii!" Jake got up quick and said "Lets go!"
"Waits the hurry?" Suzi laughed and followed her.
"Well I'm excited that you are coming. I don't ave any friends yet." Nora began
walking toward her house.
"Oh. Im glad that your excited. Will it be okay with your mom?"
"Yahh she really wants me to meet new people." Jake could see her house already.
"Oh." I dont think she ment it to be friends that have two sets of clothes and
sleep in trees
"There it is!" Jake said pointing at a house hidden by trees.
"Its kinda cute." Suzi sighed and followed her.
"Thanks! Come on!" Jake started running toward her house.
Suzi sighed and walked after her.
Jake opened the door of her house.
Suzi stopped before the door.
"Come on Suzi.." Jakes mom was in the kitchen waking dinner.
Suzi didnt know how this lady knew her name. Suzi looked in and took a step back.
"Hey mom!" Jake said to her mom. " This is Suzi. I met her at the river."
Suzi took another step back. She put her back against the outside wall.
"Suzi!" Jake grabbed her arm and pulled her inside."This is Suzi." Jake slammed the
door shut with her foot.
Suzi panicked. She looked around and started hypervenilating. She fell to the floor
and put her arms around her legs. She was claustrophobic and didnt like being
trapped.
"Oh my gosh!" Jake dropped to the floor and Jakes mom ran over.
Suzi put her head in her knees.
Jakes mom opened the door and Jake went to get her a glass of water.
Suzi stood up and scrambled backwards.
"Are you okaii Suzi?" Jake asked worried.
Suzi ran a ways into the forest. She sat behind a tree close to the house. She
breathed heavily and stared straight ahead having flash backs.
Jake watched her. I wonder what happen.
A squirell came up to Suzi and sniffed her. Suzi screamed and ran towards the house
but stopping at a tree in the front clearing of where Jake was. She breathed.
Jake ran up to her. "Are you okaii?"
"Im just really claustropobic."
"Oh. Why?"
"Theres no reason. You just kinda are."
"Well then thats okaii. Stay right here and I will go get you the clothes." Jake got
up and ran inside the house and came back out with some clothes.
By the time she had come back up, suzi was standing next to a tree farther in the
forest. Suzi sighed. "Is there ay point in me arguing?" She looked at the bag of

"You know I'm so glad that we are friends. Your so cool. And this place is amazing."
"I found it a long time ago. Its so pretty and relaxing."
"Yahh it is."Jake leaned back.
"I love it here. It was a nice change. I love the sound of the water at night. Its
so relaxing." Suzi breathed and sighed and layed in the wet grass.
"I bet it is.." Jake replied.
"You think that having a nice warm home is better but its really not. To sleep under
the stars and hear the water and feel it is a better feeling than waking up in your
bed and smelling breakfast." Suzi thought for a moment and shuddered.
"Well what about winter. What do you do in the winter. Wont you get cold Suiz?"
"What about it? Ive survived it before. Its not bad. If I was really cold, I could
just walk into a hospital or a police station and BAM.: Suzi clapped her hands
togeher. "Id be in the hospital and then an foster home before anyone knew I was
gone. Im not fast for no reasong."
"Well your claustropobic tho."
"Not in bigger spaces. I just cant be in bathrooms that are small or crawl spaces."
Suzi laughed. "and when winter ended, i'd just slip threw the window one night with
food and come back." Suzi laughed. She knew what to do.
"Well how come you got claustrophobic in my house?"
"Casue you closed the door and I didnt. I was already uncomfortable."
Suzi shruggeed.
"Oh okaii." Jake looked at her feet
"It dosent matter." Suzi said and sighed

"Thanks." Suzi got up and ran to the tree and sat at the top away from Jake.
Jake looked confused. "Wait what did I do?"
"Nothing. Nothing. I just like the tree." she wasent sure what spooked her.
"You must really like the tree! Your always in it!" Kiri said
Jake made a confused face. "Yahh she loves it.." Jake went to the other side of the
the river.
Suzi gasped and fell over. "God. Scared the crap out of me!" she said and brushed
herseld off.
"I guess the tree doesnt love you!" Kiri said giggling.
Jake moved her feet around in the water and looked at it moving.
"You made me fall off!" Suzi sighed and looked up. It was getting late. She laid on
the grass and fell asleep.
"Whatcha doing Jake.'' Kiri asked.
Suzi got up sleepy and sat against the tree. "Its getting late." She mumbled and
fell asleep again.
Jake looked up. "Oh nothing Kiri. Just you know playing with the water."

Suzi slept there. The air turned cold and suzi zipped her jacket, tiredly.
"Well I better get going. It is getting late." Jake got up and put her shoes on.
"Oh man I really need to get home!" Kiri said frantically. She jumped out the water
and ran home.
Suzi opened her eys and see if everyone had left. She saw Jake was still here and
closed her eyes again.
Jake started walking home. As soon as she got home she went to bed.
When everyone left, Suzi got up and walked towards town. She stold a sandwhich and
ran away to her tree. She hoped no one saw her. She pulled out her stolen pop and
drank it. She sat up in teh tree and ate. She sat on the grass and looked at the
clothes. She was 10 today, she said as she looked at the sky, determining it was past
12. She took out something and tried somethign on.
"Suzi?" Kiri asked looking up at the tree.
Suzi screamed. It had to be late. "Do you know what time it is?!" After a moment
suzi spoke again. "Yeah?!" She laughed.
"Where did you get that?" Kiri asked.
Jake walked up...
"Jake and Jake!!!" Suzi sighed. "Its early man. Why is everyone here?" Suzi took a
bite of her sandwhich.
"Jake?"Kiri called out.
Jake had the same clothes on from yesterday and was muddy and had scratches all over
her.
"Jake? What happened?"
"What happened to you?'' Kiri asked. She then tried to hide the bruises on her legs.
"Well I was on my way home when a tripped and fell in a mud pit. Then I got out and
walked through thorny bushes. I never made it back home. I fell asleep next to a tree
and I heard some commotion over her so I woke up." Jake said in a soft voice.
"Are you okay? I can use the water to get the blood of you.'' Kiri said.

Its not like id say anything." Suzi laughed then took a bite. "Jake, I have to get
you home, your mom already called the cops im sure."
Jake looked down..."Okaii..."
"Well erm you see..'' Kiri was stuttering to get the words out.
"If its your parents your not alone." Suzi pulled up her sleeve. She has scars on
them from them. "If its that, why do think im here?"Suzi looked at Jake. "Lets go."
"May I come?" Kiri asked.
Jake started walking..
"Sure." Suzi grabbed Jake and pulled her towards her house.
"Hey Jake where is your house?" Kiri asked.
"Follow.." Jake replied.
When they got there, Suzi pulled Jake in. She told her mom what happened and left
her. "Meet me back there tommorow." She wispered in Jakes ear.
"Bye Jake.'' Kiri said waving
Suzi walked back outside.
Jake sat in a chair in the living room.
Jakes Mom: "Jake are you okaii? I was so worried!" She hugged Jake.
Jake: "Mom I'm fine." She pushed her mom away and went upstairs to take a shower and
clean up.
"Kiri?"
"Yeah?"
"You should be going home to, its early." Suzi said and started towards her tree
"Yeah I should. See ya Suzi.'' Kiri said and began to run to her house.
"Bye." Suzi went back to her tree, "Ah shit!" Some animal had eaten her sandwhich.
She was hungry. She slpet hungry that night,
Jake went to bed. She didn't have dinner she didn't even let her big sister Emily
come in her room.
At Kiri's House-
"Where were you?" Kiri's dad asked angrily before he slapped her
"I was at the river!" Kiri said crying. "Yeah right!" Her dad said stepping on her
legs.
'I wonder how Jake and Suzi is.' she thought before passing out.
Suzi sat in her tree. She knew Jake was abused. She was exactly like Suzi was and
still kinda is. She would have to talk to her.
Jake put on jeans a a tank top. She had never worn these because she didn't like
them. Now she did. She walked out of the house towards the river.
with Kiri-
Kiri woke up on the floor with blood coming from her mouth and from her legs. "Ow
what time is it?" Kiri said to no one. 'I have to get to the river.' she thought. But
as soon as she moved pain shot up from her right leg. 'Damn it's broken...'
Jake walked to the river when she got there she sat down by a tree.
Kiri-
'If I have to I'll drag myself to the river!' Kiri thought.
Then Kiri began to drag herself to the door and tried to pick herself up on her good
leg.
'So far so good.' Kiri said as she hopped to the river.
Jake layed down in the grass.
'Hey who is that? It's Jake!' Kiri thought happily. "Jake!" Kiri called out her
voice a little hoarse.
"Oh gosh what happened to you?"
"My dad did this to me.'' Kiri explained. "Help I'm almost falling!" she added and
hopped to regain her balance.
Jake ran up to her and helped her. "We need to help you."
"I'm not sure I can make it to a hospital.'' Kiri said.
"Will you be able to make it too my house tho?"
"Yeah.'' Kiri said wiping blood from her mouth.
"Okaii come on." She helped Kiri get to her house.
"Thanks Jake.'' Kiri said smiling
They got to Jakes house. "Wait here." Jake went to get her bike and put a wagon on
the back of it and came out with it.
"Nice thinking.'' Kiri said.
"Here get in it.." She helped her get in.
"Thank you.'' Kiri said now in the wagon
Jake got on the bike and started riding toward the hospital.
Suzi followed behind them. She wasent sure if they knew or not.
Jake got on the main road and kept peddling.
"Um. Bye Kiri. We wont see you again probably." Suzi looked down and sighed.
"I'll be okay.'' Kiri said, "You can probaly see me in a couple of days.'' she
added.
"If they convict your parents of what they did, you'll be foster kid in no time."
"That would be very nice!" Kiri said happily. "Maybe I can be adopted!" Kiri said.
"Foster kids travel from place to place and sometimes to diffrent countys or states"
"Oh then I wouldnt be able to see you guys anymore.'' Kiri said sadly
"We are almost there guys." Jake started pedaling as fast as she could.
"Okay.'' Kiri said.
Then Jake pulled into the front of the hospital. "Stay here so I can go get help to
get you out of there." Jake told her and ran into the hospital.
"Thank you very much Jake.'' Kiri said
Suzi stood silently by Kiri. She shouldnt be here either. If they asked who her
parents are, which they probably would, she would either have to run or lie then run.
"Suzi, whatever your thinking it's going to be okay.'' Kiri said sadly.
"For you it might be." She said stressing the Might. "You dont know and I dont know
where you will end up, and what is going to happen. Its a high possibility you'll get
sent back to your house." She could end up dead, the way shes being treated.
Suzi thought and then shuddered.
"What are you thinking now?" Kiri asked. 'I really don't want to leave Suzi and Jake
but I don't want to go back.' She thought.
"I dont want you to leave but I dont want you in foster care. I know you need help
but I know what that will lead to. Just take care of yourself."
"I will, maybe I can run away.'' Kiri said smiling.
"They come after you. You walk down the street and cops know you. Kiri, I know what
your going through. Its almost impossible to escape. They usually find you. If not
for escaping, trying to get food and shelter. They catch you for stealing and they
find out your a runaway and your back were your started. Kiri, I dont think so." Suzi
sighed and looked at the floor. A tear ran down her face,
"I guess that there's no escape.'' Kiri said in tears also.

moment she looked up. "The nurse is coming soon. After this all calms a little,
they'll ask you what happened. Tell them. Dont exagerate. Dont leave anything out. If
you have a mark from it, show them the mark when you tell them. If they ask you Adopt
or Foster, say Foster. Adoption can keep in a shit hole your whole life."
''True. I will.'' Kiri said smiling. "I have these bruises on my face and my
ankles.'' she said.
"Your legs to. Im sorry to say that when they examine you, you take your
comfortablness and privatness and feelings into know consideration. Do your best."

''okay that is a little weird.'' Kiri said. ''Hopefully I wont get a male doctor.''
she shuddered at the thought.
"A girl is almost as worse." Suzi laughed and layed in the sidewalk.
''Probaly.'' Kiri laughed as well.
Suzi looked at the greying sky. "Your dad will say it never happened. He'll blame it
on. Self-inflictation."
"Yeah that lying bastard.'' Kiri said clenching her fist
"Calm down." Suzi looked at the sky again. Rain started to fall. It gradually got
harder. She pulled the wagon under the cover but sat in the rain herself. "The rain
always made me feel better."
''Why'' Kiri asked.
Suzi laughed. "Water makes you feel cleaner. Rain makes you feel younger and it
makes me just want to jump in puddles again." Suzi laughed and kicked a puddle.
''Guess your right.'' Kiri said. She then stuck her hand in the rain and rain
droplets began to dance in her palm
Suzi put her jacket over her. She was wearing an over sized dress that was too long
and sleevless. Her hair was long and mutted and she was bone skinny. Her face was
white. But only under the dirt that was on her. She loved the dirt and didnt like to
wash it off.
She needed the jacket to keep her warm and not get a cold but she never worried about
herself unless it was dire.And Kiri was more dire than her.

Suzi laughed and nodded her head. She had a huge smile on her face. She wiped her
hand across her face and left a streak of whiteish skin on her face.
After a moment she looked at Kiri with big eyes. "Kiri. She said softly. "Do you want
me to come with you?"
''Yeah if you want.'' Kiri said
"I mean not like stay with you and watch but actually go through with what your
doing and try to stay with you threw the process and foster care.I should be exactly
where your headed." She sighed and looked towards the door. Where is Jake? It

''Where is the nurse?" Kiri asked
"Kiri, Ill go with you. You better know that I dont want to but I will for you.
It'll be old for me and I can help all lot of kids in this situation" suzi lauged. "I
was thinking the same thing. How are you feeling?"
''A little better but my leg hurts too much to move.'' Kiri said observing the nasty
cuts on her leg.
"It'll be fine. It just needs to be cleaned and rested a little." Suzi smiled and
laughed.
''Yeah thanks Suzi.'' Kiri said smiling
"Ill get over it. Ill just be board out of my mind is all."
"Yeah the hospital is kind of boring. Maybe you can read a good magazine.'' Kiri
said.
"Ill get over it." Suzi laughed and it began to pour. "Are you cold?"
"Not really. Are you cold?" Kiri asked.
"No." Suzi laughed and smiled. "I dont get cold anymore. Where the heck is she??"
''I dont know!'' Kiri said. ''I know hospitals make you wait but this is
ridiculous!'' she added.
"She'll come." Suzi sighed and sat in a rain puddle.

"Lol" Suzi's hair got all muddy and her white dress started turnning brown and
sticking to her. If she had other things under it, it would of shown. It just showed
her skinny body.
"Now your dress is all dirty!" Kiri said pointing.
Suzi sat up and wrung out her brown muddy hair. "I know. What diffrence does it
make?"
''Oh well if you like your dress like that. What about your hair.'' Kiri asked in a
mother-like tone.
"You sound like a regualr kinda mom." Suzi raised her eyebrows."Ill survive and one
of those doctors better let me rinse it."
''Hey! I'm not old like one!" Kiri said laughing. "Hopefully they will.'' she said.
"Lol. and I hope so." Suzi got out of the rain and sat under cover.
''Want me to get the water out your hair Suzi?" Kiri asked.
"No. Its okay. I liek it." Suzi laiughed
''Okay then.'' Kiri said laughing as well.
Suzi laughed and layed on her back.
"You love laying down don't you?" Kiri asked.
"I guess." Suzi rolled her eyes and sat up. She rubbed her hand on the ground and
rubbed it across her stomach, for no absolute reason besides being board.
Kiri shook her head at her friend just smearing dirt on her.
Suzi riased her hand and made a motion with it. 'I dont know' she lipped.
Jake ran out with the doctors and the nurses with a bed to put Kiri on. "Sorry it
took so long!"
Suzi stood up against the wall. Her dress dripped muddy water. She smiled grimly
even witht he dirt on her face. She wondered if they'd notice her. Besides the fact
that she could walk, she was in worse conditon than Kiri.
"Hey what happened to you?" Jake said almost laughing while the nurses put Kiri on
the bed.
Suzi thought for a moment. She could just walk in with her. "I dont know. I didnt
have my other set of clothes with me. There back in the tree. Or the clothes you gave
me." Suzi scratched her arms.
"Well lets go with Kiri." Jake said. Kiri was on the bed on her way to her room.
When Suzi walked in, she relized how dirty she really was. She also squinted in the
light and put her hand over her face cause hospitals were bright. Really bright.
"You need to go clean up Suzi."
Suzi was shaking. Kiri had her jacket. Her dress had no sleeves. Her hair was matted
and wet. She was wearing a too big muddy wet dress. She was barefoot and her arms and
legs hurt. And her chest. "Im actually not that bad." Suzi smiled slightly and pulled
her dress out. "Its cleaner than usual." she laughed. It was pretty dirty to say in
the least.
Jake was really worried about Jake.. Then a nurse walked up to them.
Suzi looked down.
Nurse: "Hi girls. Are you with Kiri?"
Jake: "Yes"
Suzi looked up. She coughed a little before she spoke. "Um. Can I go see Kiri? She
didnt want me to leave her." Suzis head stayed up but her eyes went to the floor.
Jake: "Can I go too?"
Nurse: "Sure come with me."
Suzi followed. Her clothes were still all wet. She should of had Kiri dry her clothes
but she needed her energy. It made small dripping sounds on the linolium.
Jake looked at Suzi. I hope she will be okaii.
Suzi walked along. She wasent in a good mood and she didnt know why. She had stuff on
her mind. Like what would happen when they wondered about her parents. Would they
relized she was a "runaway". Eventually the should. She'd runway from her foster home
and hadent been caught. They probably just thought she was dead. Suzi stopped and
shivered at the thought.
"Um Suzi?" Jake said.
Suzi came back to her body. She blinked and looked up. "Yesh?"
"Did you ever think that I was abused?" Jake looked right into Suzi's eyes.
"Um no. Your moms pretty nice. You dont look the part. Did you ever think that I was
abused?" It had taken Suzi by surprise. She has stumbled back a little. She was all
figity now.
"Oh that means a lot.. No. I don't even know your parents so how would I know."
Suzi raised her eyebrowns. HAVE YOUVE SEEN WERE I LIVE AND WHAT I EAT AND HOW I
GET IT HOW I DRESS? ANY CLUE "Nevermind." suzi muttered. She put her head down a
tear escaped. She never cried.
"Well why did you runaway is what I should ask?"
"Um, becuase I was but becasue foster parents are frekoid perverts. I ranaway from
foster homes. Im a "runaway"." Suzi noticed the nurse was looking at her. She bit her
lip and scrunched her face. Damn. I said to much in front of the nurse. >_>
Suzi looked at Jake. "Later." She pointe dher head at the nurse.
Jake nodded and walked into Kiri's room.
She looked at the nurse. She bit her lip nad and half rolled her eyes towards Kiri.
Please dont say anything to me. Please dont let cops come in. Please. Please let
me stay with Kiri. If that costs me Foster Care, let it be but give me another way
out.
The nurse turned around.
Nurse: Can I talk to you alone?"
Suzi bit her lip and tunred around. Her feet made squeky sounds cause they are wet.
"If they said I ran, meet me at the river. Do not tell anyone where I am located."
She wispered in Jakes ear. Suzi breathed after a minute and sighed and nodded her
head.
Jake watched as the nurse and Suzi walked into a private room.
Nurse: "So whats your name sweet heart?"
"Whats it to you?" Suzi was stubborn. She crossed her arms across her chest. She was
still wet. It stuck to her face but she ignored it.
Jake walked into the room that Kiri was in and sat in a chair by her.
Nurse: "Well your little friend Jacklin gave me here name."
"First of, Her name is Jake. Second, Do I look like I care what she told you? Third,
I have no idea what you know on me. You want to know my name? Its Susanna Marie
Elizabeth Sin Claire. I go by Suzi. Now?" She stared at her with raised eyebrows. She
was challenging her. After a moment or two, she looked at the door. She scooted her
chair back a little.
Nurse: "Well tell me about your life. Where do you live?
"If I told you, I couldnt live there anymore, now could I? You'd all be sniffin all
around my little place. You'd be in my journal and my clothes and food. None of your
buisness." Suzi looked away. She dosent want no one in her joural. She would get mad
in a minute when she said "no we wouldnt." Total crapola.
Nurse: "Hey maybe we would. You look like you don't eat. You obviously don't care
about your clothes."
"I eat periodically. I care about my clothes. My other pair is dry and this one is
washable."
Nurse: "You don't seem to get it do you?"
"Get what?" Suzi scooted closer towards the door and looked at it.
The nurse noticed she was looking at the door and slammed it shut.
Nurse: "You don't want our help, but you need our help. Don't you see. You could live
in a house thats nice and with people that care about you."
Suzi sighed and closed her eyes. "How do I need your help? Those people you call
foster parents, most are abusive morons. You dont give a second thought to us."
Nurse: "We do care. We wont send you to somebody you don't wanna be with."
She clicked her tounge and made a sour face. "oh really? Why did I runaway after I
got my head flushed in a toliet with Sani-flush in it and no one belived me?"
Suzi tapped her fingers.
"What do you want with me?" She grinnded her teeth. Her mom always said not to do
that casue you look like a crack-addict. Suzi stood up.
Nurse: "Well maybe its your own fault." She opened the door and let Suzi go.
Suzi didnt leave. She stayed were she was. "So I deserved to have blue chemicals
stain by face? Have you noticed my face is just the slightest tint of blue? I
deserved to have to puke my guts out and pee in a bucket in a 4 by 6 closet?" She was
so not done yet.
Nurse: "I don't care! You were treated that way cause you challenge them!"
"If I wold them off, it would be okay for them to cut me over and over on my arm."
She put her arm under the light. "You sick matchistic Bitch."
Nurse: "Oh I'm so sorry.. NOT!"
Suzi pushed the table over. Everything went on the floor. "What are you going to do
about it? I ain't touching it. Ive never been to more than 4 years of school and Im
already smarter than you."
Nurse: "You think so."
"I could shoot you dead right now and not even think twice about it." She actually
did have a gun on her. She wasent afraid to use it. This stpid little bitch. "Go
ahead. Call the security cops. Id go through foster hell before I ever did anything
for you."
The nurse walked out of the room. This kid was insane.
Suzi put the gun back and walked around the table. She had the urge to walk up to a
security gard and go 'i have a gun', pull it out and run.It would only be a minor
charge. She started to walk towards Kiri and Jake.
Jake had heard the noises in the room. "Hey what happened in there?"
She studdered for a moment."She asked me a quesion and I didnt answer. She said some
stuff, I pushed the table over and pulled a gun and she walked away. I wouldnt be
surprised if im not taken down soon or at lest followed 'home' by the river." Suzi
smiled. "Its all fun."
Jake got wide eyed. "You have a gun?"
"Never used it. Im not even sure if it would fire. Yes." Suzi looked at her "Im one
messed up 9 year old? Did you tell her where I live or my name?"
"No why would I?"
"She said somehting about you saying something. I dont know. It dosent matter." Suzi
looked over her shoud. She was starting to get a little freaked about her gun now.
She hoped that damn nurse said nothing.
"Well that was sort of entertaining.'' Kiri said giving a half smile.
Suzi looked down. "Hey Kiri."
''Hey Suzi.'' Kiri said.
"How are you feeling?"
''A little better. I told the nurses I'm not talking until you come in.'' Kiri said.
''What about you?" she asked.
Suzi smiled. "Im a little wet as you might of noticed. Im getting claustrophobic.
But im doing okay."
"Okay if you need to you can go outside.'' Kiri said.
"Ill be okay. I had fun talking to the nurse." Suzi grinned.
''Yeah I bet you did. Threaten her?" Kiri asked.
Suzi smiled. "Yeah. There was a weapon involved. Now the little bitch i'll go snitch
and I'll get in trouble. Blah Blah Blah. Totally worth it" Suzi smiled.
''Yeah I think that was the same nurse who came in here.'' Kiri said.
"Yeah. I'd probably go with her. Or I could kick and run."
''I choose kick and run!" Kiri said and laughed.
Suzi smiled. "I dont know. Ill see what happens."
''Don't worry if she tries t hurt you or Jake I'll make some water strangle her or
choke her'' Kiri said.
"Worry about Jake not me. Ill be fine." suzi said.
''You sure?" Kiri asked surprised.
"Totally. I have to go to the bathroom."
"Okay.'' Kiri said.
Jake just sat there in the chair. Now she was worried about the both of them.
''Jake what's wrong?" Kiri asked.
Suzi came back in! She looked at Jake.
"Hey Suzi.'' Kiri said.

"Oh nothings wrong.. I'm just thinking." The doctor came in to wrap up Kiri's leg.
Suzi looked away from the doctor. Suzi sighed and looked at some of the posters on
the wall. Stupid Doctors.
The doctor wrapped her leg up in a cast.
"Its broken?" She looked up at the doctor.
Doctor: "Yes."
"To what degree?" Suzi figited in her wet seat.
Doctor: "Thats none of your business."
"Its none of my buisness how bad my friend is hurting? Shows how much you know about
that injury." Suzi made squeky sounds.
Doctor: "I'm fixing her now shut up."
"I dont have to. Freedom of speech." Suzi tuned away.
The doctor finished wrapping her leg.
Suzi tried to wipe the mud off her dress.
And walked out.
"Good riddens"
'So I hope you get better."
Suzi stared at the window.
Jake stared at the ground.

"Well I better go home."
"You gonna be okay going by yourself, Jake?"
"I think so."
"Ill walk you home. Meet me by the river as usual okay?"
"No Suzi. Stay here with Kiri. I will be fine." Jake started walking toward the
door.
"You sure?" Suzi didnt want her to leave.
"Yahh I will be fine. I will see you around." Jake was kinda sad. She knew what was
going to happen to the both of them.
"Okay." Suzi hoped that was true. She looked down. She needed to be with Kiri
though.
Jake walked out the doors and on her way home.
Suzi shed one tear.

Kiri was sleeping. Suzi looked out the window.

Suzi sat on the chair and cried.

A nurse walked in. She was a different one this time. She looked very nice.
Suzi looked up. Her face was still red. "Shes been asleep only a few minutes." She
put her head back in her hands.
Nurse: "Aw are you okaii sweetie?" She walked over to Suzi.
"Im fine." She sniffled and kept her head down.
Nurse: "Okaii. I just need to know your phone numbers, names, and parents names."
"I dont know her information. Her names Kiri."
Nurse: "Okaii thank you. And your name?"
Suzi looked down. "Suzanne Marie."
Nurse: "Thanks! Any other info you could give me?"
Suzi got real quiet. "no."
Nurse: "Okaii what about her."
"Were not related. All I know is that her dad did this to her." Suzi put her head
back in her hands and cried.
Nurse: "Really? How do you know?"
"She said that on the way over here." Suzi got all quiet and didnt speak.
Nurse: "Oh gosh thank you for telling me that."
Suzi didnt speak. She looked at the floor.
The nurse ran out and told the doctor.
Suzi cried. At least the nurse didnt question her about herself anymore.
The doctor came in.

She comes upon Suzi, looking up at her with great curiosity. She suddenly fell on her
knees, holding the gold bell she had to Suzi's face.
Suzi looks up. " Wha..who?"
Doctor: "Okaii this girl Kiri is going to be in a foster home. And Suzi if you don't
have a ny parents you too will be in a foster home."
Suzi put her head down and didnt say anything.
Doctor: "I hope both of you do good with other children."
Suzi cried but said nothing.
Kiri's eyes fluttered open and said, "wha what happened?" she asked.
Suzi looked at her with big eyes. She didnt feel the need to say anything
"suzi were you crying?" Kiri asked.
Suzi looked down. "Do 'I even need to say it?"
"Guess not.'' Kiri said.
Suzi bit her lip and looked down.
''Well whatever it is that's bothering you, you can tell me.'' Kiri said wiping the
tears off the younger girls face.
"Foster care."
''Oh what did they say?" Kiri asked.
"That we were going." Suzi wispered
"Oh. Well at least we wont be seperated.'' Kiri said sadly
"Hopefully we wont. Poor Jake. She knew what was going on to." Suzi looked at her
feet
''Yeah.'' Kiri said looking at her hands.
Suzi looked at the floor.
''What?" Kiri asked her.
"What? I said nothing." Suzi fumed.
''Never mind.'' Kiri said looking out the window.

treatment in the foster home?" Kiri asked.
"Why are you worrired about me? I know what to do. You may be older but I know the
drill. Be worrired about yourself. Im worrired about you." Suzi sounded older at that
moment.
"Well I kind of heard what you yelled to the nurse.'' Kiri admitted looking serious.
Ill be fine." She said completly serious. She laughed. "Im just worried about you."
''Don't be. I can take care of myself but since your younger and more dangerous you
may need someone to watch your back.'' Kiri said smiling at the dangerous part.
Suzi rolled her eyes. "Really? I never figured I was dangerous. Just 'prepared'."
''Well hazardous to peoples health. How does that sound?" Kiri asked rolling her
eyes as well.
"Lol." Suzi said
''You said it.'' Kiri said resting her head on her pillow.
"Lucky you." Suzi said. "You get to stay here for a while." God know where I will be
tonight. Suzi thought to herself.
''But where will you be?'' Kiri asked.
"I dont know. We'll see."
''Hopefully it will be a good place. It's not healthy to always be in a tree.'' Kiri
said.
"Hey! I liked my tree. That reminds me, I need to go get my stuff." Suzi said and
wondered if her stuff was wet.
''Hopefully there dry. If not I can drain all the water out.'' Kiri said.
"I wonder...."
''You better go check. Before someone finds them an steals them.'' Kiri said before
falling asleep.
Suzi got up and started to walk out of the hospital.
Suzi walked down the forest floor. It was pitch black. She stubled and tried to find
her way.
At The Hospital-
"No please stop please.'' Kiri said in her sleep rolling over and frowning.
Suzi come to her tree. She sat in it for a while
"Nmmmph'' Kiri moaned in her sleep.
Suzi sighed and grabbed her stuff. She wrapped it in the small bag of clothes Jake
had givin her. She put her feet in the water before getting up and starting to walk
back.
Hospital-
"Mmmmm I'm home. No wait stop dont-!'' Kiri was cut off as she woke up looking in the
hospital room she was in. "Just a dream.'' Kiri said to no one.
Suzi stopped and looked around. She barely cried as she knew she wold never run
around here again
"Need something to eat.'' Kiri said. She called for the nurse and ordered a
cheeseburger and a chocolate shake.
Suzi stood in the rain infront of the hospital. She looked at the sign,
Pheonix was sitting on a bench near the hospital in the rain. Just watching.
''Mmm delicious.'' Kiri said as she ate her burger. 'Hospital food isn't that bad'
she thought to herself.
Suzi looked at the guy on the bench. "Wha..What are you doing out here?" She said
shivering.
''yummy chocolate shake.'' Kiri said sipping nearly half of it. ''Wonder how Suzi
is.'' Kiri wondered out loud.
Suzi sighed and walked up the steps. She walked into Kiris room. "Hey"
"Oh hey Suzi!" Kiri said finishing off her shake.
"Hey. I got my stuff." Suzi held her stuff up.
''Is it dry?" Kiri asked observing her belongings.
"Pretty dry." Suzi opened the bag and took out her journal. "Its a little wet but
thats normal. IT will be fine."
''What's that?" Kiri asked pointing to her journal.
"My journal." suzi said
''Oh cool.'' Kiri said.
"Um yeah. Im not gonna let them get ahold of this." Suzi said and sat on her journal
''Plan on bombing something?" Kiri asked.
"Um no." She said confused.
''I'm surprised! Well whats in it? You can trust me.'' Kiri said.
"Just drawings and poems and stuff ive written." She said and bit her lip as her
head hung.
''May I see them?" Kiri asked gently.
Pheonix continued to watch the hospital from the bench.
She tosses the book on the bed. "Im gonna go get some air." She walkes outside and
stands infront of the bench.
''Okay.'' Kiri said flipping through the book.
Suzi leaned against the wall and gets wet.
''Hmm Suzi can write really well!'' Kiri said amazed.
''Jeez I sleep a lot.'' Kiri said setting the book down and going to sleep.
As the rain drops fasten, Suzi steps under cover. She walked down the long streatch
of cover. Someone touched her back and she turned around. Something hit her cheek and
she could feel it hotten. She looked and saw who she thought it could never be. "Hello." he said. She placed her hand
on her cheek and ran inside.
''Mmmmm more ice-cream Mr.Penguin.'' Kiri said in her sleep.
"Excuse me?" She said as she walked in.
''Yeah vanilla would be nice.'' Kiri said licking her lips.
Suzi laughed. "Kiri, stop!"
''What? Oh Suzi I was in the middle of a good dream too!" Kiri said turning to face
her.
"Sorry" Suzi backed up
''It's okay. I ran out of ice-cream anyway.'' Kiri said.
Suzi laughed. "Lol"
"you heard?" Kiri asked giggling.
"Weirdo" she said and rolled her eys.
