Sixteen years is the world's bliss,
For as you walk the ground rises to kiss,
The soles of your feet as you pass along,
You sweeten the air and brighten the song,
Which birds sing as you go by,
And angels look down and jealously cry,
Because beauty like yours was destined for Heaven,
But instead into this darkened world you were given,
As a candle to brighten the lives of us men,
To comfort us and give us hope once again,
That perhaps if we're blessed and perhaps if we pray,
We'd find someone like you to hold us someday,
So as you blossom and continue to grow,
It's clearly before you and so you should know,
That the first sixteen years have been small steps so far,
For greater heights you'll achieve as you reach for your star.
