The well-known house of Mayor DeWitt. Before that, it was known as the DeWitt Home, and before that, was referred to as only 'where that weird guy lives'.

They got home without much of a fuss, and by then Kralie had enough strength back to stumble up the steps and into the house, where he crashed into the couch.

"What happened?" Other than the obvious, she meant. How did Niamh pull her out
of the unknown dimension - how had Stephanie yanked her into it? That hadn't been
Stephanie, not really. Just her shell of a body occupied by The Entity - right? Jenny
falls silent, thinking of all this and more as she readies a glass of juice for Kralie.

She carries it over, her hands still shaking, though faintly, with lingering adrenaline
and fear. He rubs her shoulder, after, where the ugly mark had shown itself.
Everyone knew what it was supposed to mean - the marked ones always disappeared. Maybe not
right away, but someday. Jenny made sure it was covered when she sat near Kralie; he
didn't need any more stress. "Oh, um - your eyes. They're..."

"I...I don't know." said Kralie, rubbing at his temples. "It's all blurry. One minute, I was starting at... at her, and the next, we were in the middle of this foggy field. Never seen it before, and then the next thing I remember, we were here. But, it wasn't the here you know. It was from back when my parents were sill around, and Stephanie was still just a little kid." "I know." He said solemnly. "I looked at him ... THE ENTITY, I mean, in the face. He showed himself to me."

Jenny nods. She'd seen it once, before, a long time ago. Back when they were in
the school and the town was just being rebuilt. She'd stumbled into the forests in a
drunken stupor in the middle of the night and was screaming about Stephanie and how she
killed her friends - "He's got no eyes and rows of jagged teeth - that's how I remember
him. Everybody says it's different, though. Everybody sees something different..." Jenny
trails off. Her hand finds his back and she gently rubs it, trying to comfort him. "What
did she mean when she said 'you replaced me', Kralie?"

"I don't really want to talk about that." said Kralie. Steph was right -- he did replace her with Jenny. He was so lost without her, he was drinking himself to death and had shut himself off from the world -- and this little girl with dark hair and green eyes showed up at his house, just screaming 'love me'.

Again, she nods, but her hand falls away from his back. "That's alright.
I'm going to hop in the shower. Order a pizza or something, you can put it on my card."
Jenny drops her wallet beside him and it flops open - not that she notices, she's already
making her way up the stairs. The flap inside holds two photos - one of her and Kralie,
and another of a blonde woman and a baby. Jenny's late girlfriend. - she'd
only brought her to the DeWitt house once, for a Christmas event. And then the pair had
just disappeared died. (( Jenny didn't like admitting that the thing
had taken everybody she cared about. )
--
Upstairs, Jenny's observing the odd markings on her shoulder. She'd only seen them once
before, on Stephanie. She furiously tries to scrub it off but it doesn't budge.

Kralie did as he was told -- but he did it almost mechanically. He called up the local pizza joint and put an order in for a large sausage and an order of cheesy breadsticks, put the charge on Jenny's card, and then got up to go to the restroom. His tired, grey eyes were now COAL BLACK, just as Steph's were.

Jenny's left the bathroom door unlocked, the shower curtain drawn as she
sits soaking in their tub. The tub that'd once held an unresponsive Stephanie, with the
same three dots across her hip. She's flipping through a book, but her attention is
elsewhere, her mind is elsewhere, and she doesn't hear Kralie approaching.

No, her fingers are still idly pressing over the rigid scars on her collarbone, trying to
make sense of what they meant.

That night, Kralie had eaten the entire order of breadsticks and Jenny had scarfed down her fair amount of pizza as well. Kralie was watching a bland comedy on Netflix, a long-unopened bottle of scotch making its ugly appearance known again. perhaps, he thought, just one drink to take the edge off.

Jenny had spent hours in that tub trying to scrape away any remnants of the
craziness that was ever abundant in her life. She just wanted to leave this place -
unfortunately, she couldn't. She had to watch after Kralie.

Jenny made her way down from her room and pads barefoot into the foyer where Kralie was.
Where he was drinking? She wraps her shawl tighter around her torso and steps over, gently
removing the scotch bottle from his iron grasp and placing in it instead her hand.
"What're you watching?"

"I don't know. One of the American Pie spinoffs, I think." said Kralie, using shaky hands to bring the tumbler of scotch to his lips. He put it down without taking a drink, almost contemplative as he did so. Then, he stretched out on the too-short, well-worn sofa, disrupting the afghan that lay on the back of it.

Jenny had, without even realizing it, become reclusive since the incident in the
diner. She hadn't been out to the eatery and hadn't been out of the house, she rarely came
out of her room except to eat or use the bathroom. It was like Jenny was gone and only her
empty shell was left.

Currently, she's sprawled out on the floor in her room, toying with the loose strands in
the carpet. A vinyl player behind her is bellowing out a Fleetwood Mac album. Her curtains
are drawn shut, and she's tapes paper over the glass so that nothing nobody could
see inside. Not that that even mattered - it saw everything.

Her stomach grumbles. She should probably eat something. Go downstairs, chat with Kralie,
make a bowl of chili.
She can't.

A light knock on Jenny's door and Kralie softly opened it. "Jen?" He asked her softly. "A girl just ran in and demanded to speak with you. Should I let her in?"

Jenny shrugs, then nods. She slowly pulls herself up into a sitting position and
runs her hands through her hair, trying to remove some of the knots that'd formed over the
past couple of days. God forbid Elly saw her like this, or Caroline...
