Everyday when I turn on the news I hear about more and more layoffs at various companies.
Even though I think the new administration and Congress are going to do some things to try
and deal with the bad economy, it is almost certain that things are going to get a bit
worse before they start improving.

For a while now I have been wondering how the bad economy might be affecting our Kupika
community. Below are some questions that I would appreciate you answering, just to give us
a little indication of this. Please answer as frankly as possible and understand that the
bad economy is hurting all of us in one way or another.

......................

1. Has any of your immediate family members been recently laid off due to the bad
economy?

2. Do you worry about the future due to the bad economic conditions now? For example, are
you worried about paying for college, finding a job, or realizing any of your future
goals?

3. Is Internet considered a necessity in your household or is it something extra?

4. Are you likely to lose Internet access/service at your home any time soon due to the
poor economy?

5. Is your family now struggling to pay bills now due to the bad economy?

6. Add any other comments you have about the economy here:

scared that i won't find one.

1. Has any of your immediate family members been recently laid off due to the bad
economy?

Yes, my mom has at her company. She is still looking for a job, and currently jobless.
It's already been 2 months too....=_=

2. Do you worry about the future due to the bad economic conditions now? For example,
are you worried about paying for college, finding a job, or realizing any of your future
goals?

I'm worried about my brother and I being able to get into college. My parents are also
getting a divorce, and I'm worried about being able to find a good house, and my mom being
able to support us.

3. Is Internet considered a necessity in your household or is it something extra?

It's considered a necessity. My dad uses the computer for his job, and we need it to look
at news and to communicate.

4. Are you likely to lose Internet access/service at your home any time soon due to the
poor economy?

I'm not too sure, but we might if we aren't able to pay bills.

5. Is your family now struggling to pay bills now due to the bad economy?

Yes, with my dad holding a job that doesn't pay well, and my mom being unable to find a
job.

6. Add any other comments you have about the economy here:

I think it'll become a long time before the economy starts improving, but I hope that
we'll be able to make a little change in it.

To gothgirl101:

It's good that you're 'set for life', but a lot of us are in bad situations because of the
economy. You're one of the lucky ones I guess, but don't mock us.

1) Thankfully, no.

2) Yes, I wanted to study Business Marketing or something like Foreign Trade/
International Business. With our economy, that won't get me anywhere, though. Right now
I'm a sophomore. Pretty soon I'll be going to college; I'm terrified we don't get out of
this recession-depression by the time I'm out of college and I can't get a job, wasting
all that time and money.

3) It is a necessity. Both my parents use theirs for work-related things. I need mine for
school. Most of our homework assignments are internet related.

4) No.

5) Thankfully, no. The economy hasn't drastically affected our situation.

6) I don't really have any comments. I thinks what's happening to our economy unfair, but
it was expected --we were on a high for too long. Hearing about all these layoff upsets
me, I hope things can pick up again.

HOLY FVCK, things have gone to shit!
I need more paying work, and what I find pays almost nothing.
I ended up surfing and am spending way to much time here, but if I have no work, does it
matter?
I still refuse to take crap work and mess-up my portfolio.

AS far as the other things, I always survive.
