So I was talking with a friend the other day and she says that she doesn't really talk
about how she is Jewish on her profile or even like to mention it because she's gotten a
lot of anti-semitic comments from some.

That surprised me a bit because I've not really seen hardly any racisim or anti-semitism
on Kupika or between people in FT, etc.

I've seen a little bit of anti-gay stuff and of course personally experienced some ageism
(and rarely some racist comments) but otherwise mosty the kind of hate stuff i've seen is
like emos vs preps and stuff like that.

On the other hand, this girl said she didnt know any other Jewish peeps on kupika except
one, (i mentioned a few others i know) and I wonder cause there should be more, so i
wonder if some are worried about being out there with their identity or faith?

Also I'm not aware of any clubs specifically for Jews or about Judaism, but yet there are
several Christian clubs.

comments?

Well, it's not racist that Jews don't have the clubs. If they want the clubs, they can
set them up themselves. It's not like other religions will say, "let's make a club for
Jews". Since there's a higher percentage of Christians, it's natural there'll be more
clubs for Christianity. =P

I can tell from pictures on here, there are quite a bit of people from Semitic descent
here.
I don't see why a Jewish person would self identify anymore than a Christian would, they
have this really bad history of being identified and killed.

Racism is horrible. It's just stupid. Hating another person because they are darker than
you, believe in different things, are lighter than you, their eyes are shaped differently?
Pure, straight stupidity.

After seeing too many Holocaust movies (and dead people) in the past two weeks, I feel
like punching the next anti-semetic person I see. >.<

The nazis also killed Gypsies and Gays, as well as anyone else who did not agree with
them, the nazi undesirables would be the so called terrorists of today, after all
terrorists are semetic, so are Jews and Arabs, we just don't say just the Jews any longer,
we say Arabs and people of semetic descent are terrorists

@ Lyncheh: It's not racist because Judaism is not a race. ^^

Yes, because I was the only person on the whole thread to use that word.

I never said you were. But you were the only person who used it in a way that
implied that anti-Semitism was a form of racism.

well i think a distinction has to be made...

there is the religious-cultural thing which we can call Judaism

and then there is the ethnic heritage that we can call Jewish

both areas ..that is the people and people who practice judaism have been victims of
anti-semitism...

it is true as Siberion says that strictly speaking "The term Semite means a member of any
of various ancient and modern peoples originating in southwestern Asia, including the
Akkadians, Canaanites, Phoenicians, Hebrews, and Arabs."

but in normal conversation and discussion, one usually refers specitifically to the Jewish
branch of the semitic people.

(It is likewise food for another discussion to point out that the term "Hebrews"
accurately applies to the descendents of Eber which includes a large number of the the
tribes and peoples who were not the Jewish tribes) (we will leave aside for not the whole
issue of this whole thing being a fictitious construct anyways)

Keep going, keep going! One day, you may actually give someone the impression that
you know a shit about politics or religion! :D

"This club is for civilized discussion of politics and other aspects of International
Relations."

That's all I have to say for now. See ya.
