"Sail with Me"

Sail with me,
Let me be your guide,
Together we'll put out to sea,
Time will be our tide,
Into the sun we shall set sail,
Leaving our violet past behind,
True at times our wind will fail,
And drifting what will we find,
Just the two of us and God above,
Setting our course by an uncharted star,
Trusting in our faith and upon the love,
Which has brought the two of us this far,
I can't say there will be no storms,
Or that tempest tossed you won't sometimes be,
But in my arms you'll be safe and warm,
A harbor into which you can flee,
Whenever you need me I'll be at your side,
And maybe if you feel you have the desire,
To be left alone or you want a place to hide,
I will understand this need and will not tire,
I will give you all the space you crave,
Because I know your love is secure,
This same love which makes me brave,
This gentle love so precious and pure,
This love is what will keep our course,
Speeding our passage to mutual destiny,
No natural current or man-made force,
Will keep us from arriving safely,
Come sail with me along the shore,
We'll anchor the ship off a sandy beach,
Of an island never walked upon before,
Or moor in some foreign port we've reached,
Perhaps we'll make love on the moonlit deck,
Or swim naked with the dolphins in a sheltered bay,
Deep sea diving, exploring some ancient wreck,
So many possibilities, who can say,
Exploring this world that's mostly sea,
Returning to land for a change of pace,
Isn't this how things should be,
Out there life's a journey not a race,
Yes life is an ocean to be sailed upon,
Full of waterspouts and fair winds,
We all begin in a ship of one,
But two together as lovers and friends,
Make the sailing pleasant and the voyage well,
And so I say to you once again, my love,
Come with me and let's set sail.
