A dark forest with signs pointing every which way. Could the path you are trying to find be to the right or the left? All the signs are always wrong, they spin themselves from time to time. The paths intersect every now and then, sometimes even leading to a dead end. The tall trees whisper to people who are lost, which is very often. Can you make it out?

Cheshire hummed a soft tune, holding onto a branch high up in a tree. His feet dangled off looking down at the dirt path waiting for something interesting to come about. Maybe a little girl, or a man? He would always have fun and play around with the little humans amusing himself with their confused and lost faces. But of course no one ever came any more, no one would take a chance and try to make it through the tricky forest. The last time he actually had any sort of fun was quite awhile ago and it seemed like he forgot the thrill of it all. He sighed, disappointed, leaning forward placing his hand under his chin holding it up. "Nothing..." he mumbled to himself. "Nothing at all.."

Stupid cats. "Ch." The smell was everywhere and yet nowhere. Dogs seriously hated cats. It was a fact, and wolves couldn't hate them anymore. They smelled, and were always to tricky. Wolf growled. Where was this cat..? The dog thought to himself lurking over bushels and stumps. He loungfully walked over the marshy grasses, and stubborn looking shrubbs. Where was this Red coated flee that was suppose to be given him dinner? Him and Red had a date. This girl was so forgettful. The wolf rolled his eyes and rubbed a finger against his noes. He was getting ratherirratated. The scent of cat was beginning to become over bearing as he drew deeper and deeper into this "Twisted.. For..est." The Wolf said allowed, reading the crudely drawn sign in black letters hanging on a mishappen tree. He was really wasn't much of a reader- and his accent was so thick and coarse, it made anything he said slurred and harsh. Then the dogs' ears perked up. "Nothing.. Nothing at all..." The dog heard the nonchalant voice and keenly followed suit. He looked at a tree and there swinging it's tail so coily- A cat. How lucky. The Wolf had grown so famished. "Slow day i take it?" The Wolf called koily taking some interest in small conversation. Maybe, just before he ate, it would do him some good to find out his location.

Cheshire looked down at the body where the voice came from. He cocked his head and grinned brightly. "A little mutt, how lovely," he chuckled. He lied down on the branch, on his stomach so he could see the wolf better. He hung his hand off as well as his tail looking down at the wolf. "What is a little mutt like you doing around here? Will you not get lost?" He laughed to himself. (Sorry if these aren't that long. Im writing on my kindle.)

Cats. The belonged in his stomache. Fickle little things. With useless tails, claws, and eyes. This one seemed especially lazy in every manner. "Tsk. Lost?" The mutt said as he layed his hand on the tree and scrapped up the tree's bark. He easilly stripped a long piece of bark off the tree's base. "Not at all." The Wolf said grinning maliciously. "I'm never lost. I'm looking for a friend. Red coat. Red shoes. Red lips. Blonde hair. Adequetly named Red Ridding Hood." The Dog said leaning his back up against the tree. He couldn't allow himself to get to angry over being called a 'mutt'. Wolves were always so calculating when it came to expending their energy. Instead the Dog decided to inspect the piece of bark that he snapped off the tree. Purplish blue swirls made it look psycadelic. "I don't suppose you've seen her, Eh, commerade?

Cheshire thought rolling onto his back now he swung his arm back and forth. "Hm, Red Riding Hood. Maybe I did see her." He grinned. "Although there are lots of people who come by here wearing red. It is a very common color." He nodded looking up, twisting leaves between his fingers. He glanced at the wolf out of the corner of his eye. "Why would a hairy beast like you have any business with her?"

"That's business of mine and hers." The Wolf said easily, rejecting the cat's curiousity by drawing fine limits. He didn't want the cat in his business. It was already hard enough for the Dog to converse with it. "Have seen her or not. She's a jolly looking jane. With a plain face and hazel eyes... Probably was singing some lolly tune or rather prancing along with a basket on her forearm." The wolf said making flimsy gestures with his hands. He disgarded the chunk of bark to the ground. "If you did see her- or didn't, you must've heard her.. She's one of those girls that can't shut up. Not even by herself." The Wolf cracked a small smile just a bit as he began to think about it. She was the uttmost fickle person he'd ever met. Even more then any cat could be. She was so oblvious and guillible. And so deliciously dressed in such a cheery colored suit. It almost made the wolf's mouth water.

Cheshire pouted lightly, not able to pry any further. He twisting his position again. It seemed like he couldn't keep himself from moving, always anxious. He sighed looking down at the wolf, wolf his signature grin almost glued to his face. "I could have seen her. I know a lot of people who will not shut their mouth. Even people who won't stop asking questions and people who will not answer my questions," he motioned towards the wolf. "Small world isn't it," he laughed.

"..." The Wolf became absent minded each time he thought of her. Red. All dressed up in such a daring color. Where the hell was she? "Heh, i suppose." The Wolf finally responded look up from his clawed hands towards the stripped cat. On the other's face was the longest oddly shapped grin. "So have you seen her or not, kitty?" Th Wolf asked sounding a bit impatient. The Wolf knew the girl could be enirely to careless. It caused her to get into some quarrels with other. The sooner he found her, the sooner he'd have some piece of mind, and a fuller stomache.

Cheshire sighed getting quite annoyed. That's all this wolf asked for. Red. He told the stupid mutt the answer couldn't he understand that. There were quite a bit of people that wandered in here, here, most of which who had gotten lost. "My answer. answer I have already told." He sat up and jumped down from the branch landing on his feet perfectly. He gracefully made his way over to the wolf. "I could have seen her. But I would not know the difference between her and another lost human being."

"And what humans have you seen?" The Dog asked, crossing his arms seeing the cat was daring to draw closer. Good- because his stomache was piercing with stomache pains. He hadn't eaten in hours. He had promised Red he wouldn't harm another living creature as long as she brought him 'gifts' as a sacrifice. In return, he'd watch over her quaint little village, and protect her whenever she traveled to her grandmother's sick little cottage to the east. However, if she didn't own up, he had the right to feast on any unfortunate animal that crossed his path. Namely, the little kitty with a clownish grin. Yummy~ "If they were dressed in red, i just need you to tell me which way they went. Or can you not even tell me that? Are you even positive it was a human you saw? I hear fat cats like you don't know much.. So i can't say i'm surprised. What you saw was probably a tree stump or something... Maybe i shouldn't even be asking you... What a waste of time." The Wolf began, purposefully mocking the other.

Cheshire snickered, and the sight of him being mocked. Of course he didn't take it as a mockery, he just took it as a compliment. How flattering it was to see a wolf act like him. "Well," he pointed down one path. "There was a little girl who went down that way. Unfortunately she got lost, and fell down a cliff." He smiled nodded, circling around the wolf, teasing him. He pointed down the opposite path from the other one. "And there, a grown man walked to his death, by drowning. Maybe, Red died. It's very common around these parts." He stopped walking, and stared up at the sky for a moment. Maybe there was a girl in red. Not mosty common people wore red all the time. Well, he should wait, have a bit more fun with this little mutt.

"Fell down a cliff, aye~" The wolf stated smoothly, seeming content with the cat's answers. "Sounds like 'er." said the Wolf, with a shrugg of a shoulder. He knew the other was trying to tease him about it. Sure, The Wolf liked Red. Even relunctantlyloved her at times. But the girl was hopeless. It was only a matter of time before something in the forest did away with her. Be it her stupidity or some wild beast. The dog started to take a sniff of the air, 'Interesting~' he thought grining slightly. The daffy looking feline was right; death was all around him. Sublime. "Very common..." The Dog agreed his eyes half opened. The Wolf reached out his hand and took the cat by his long stripped tail. The dumb thing had looked up at the sky, letting his gaurd down. "So i suppose in a place like this~ you're death won't be any surprise."

Cheshire snapped back to attention, the sudden pull of his tail, hurting horribly. It sent shocks through his body, on high alert. "Tsk," he rolled his eyes. "That really down hurt you know." Cheshire's grin soon faded, and narrowed his eyes at the wolf. His claws immediately sharpened, and he soon faded away, leaving a big cloud of mist. "Oh, now where am I?" His voice mocked from around the woods, seeming like he was every where at once.

For a moment, the Wolf was entertaining the idea of killing the cat now and eating him, or kill him by eating him. (otherwise known as swallowing his prey whole.) Sigh~ So many possibilities. Either way, his stomache would stop aching and he'd be able to head up the path in search for Little Red's carcuss. Maybe even take a few bites of her aswell. But before the Wolf sunk his fangs into the Cat's tail, it became transparent. Right in his palm, the tail was fading, and finally gone. Along with the Cat's entire body! "Tricky little... Kitty.." The Wolf growled under his breath. Well, there was no fun without a challange anyway. The wolf looked from side to side and branch to leaf.. The cat had vanished. Yet his voice was coming from all directions. "Yes.. Yes.. You are tricky..." The Wolf mused as he went on all fours and walked around the immediate area, sniffing the air and the ground. "But you don't think i'm really trying to eat you~ Right?" The wolf asked chuckling darkly as he skimmed around tree to tree, and even lunged himself up the side of a tree so he could center himself on a tree branch in order to get a higher view. Briefly, the Dog sat upon the branch where the Cat had first started. "Come out come out~ Wherever you are~ Don't tell me your frightened comrade." The Wolf dog cooed with a grin.
