Once upon a time, there was a beautiful forest. No one had ever been through all of it, for they heard of a curse that will turn you into a swan if you make an impure wish, but if it is truly pure at the bottom of your heart, your wish will come true. In this forest was the wishing Swan Lake, a tale if a beautiful girl who had everything, made a selfish wish that turned her into a swan. Every night at midnight, the beautiful girl turns into a swan until her curse is lifted. For whoever makes it past the forest, shall forever be happy.

The stranger looked around for any sign of life other then the trees he encounters. Little puddles of water from time to time, told him there was some sort of water source yet for all the time he has been here he hasn't found it. A Masquerade mask covered his face only showing his eyes and the rest of this face because His identity was important to keep. The job he did was a secret oblivious to the world. After a long days work, he sat down and took a rest against a nearby tree. He closed his eyes listening to the sounds of nature, until it was interrupted by something..water? He sprung up and kept quiet, trying to hear the sounds again. There it was! The sound of water was near and he was dear to find it. Slowly siding his feet against the ground he spotted something behind the trees. It was a lake, he was surprised it wasn't bigger for all the sounds it made. Happy to be able hear the sounds of running water made the colorful man soothed. "What a wonderful place to be, so calm, so peaceful". A noise conquered his ears, the sounds of another. He turned abruptly and faced the way of the noise. "Hello? Is there anyone else here?" He waited for a reply.

The ancient let out a heavy sigh, rubbing her bare feet behind a small bush she was drying off her scarf made by her own feathers, and each and every year she would add a feather, it seemed like a good idea, a gift for those who made it past such horrible odds to get here, if only they could break her curse. There was silence, but there was a sound after that. She blinked once and quietly peeked over the green bush, slowly looking around and stopping at a strange colorful figure, her eye lashes fluttering. She made sure her mask was still on as she moved over from the side, but fell onto her side letting out a small 'oof!' as she did. "Oh my..." the girl in all white mumbled, shaking her head and lifting herself from the ground, pulling her dress up slightly so she could walk, her bare feet covered in moist soil around the lake. "H-hello? Sir...?"

Looking over to the girl he laughed a bit at her inconvenience of falling. He was going to offer some help but saw the girl had it under control. His mind was stunned, a flawless beauty stood before him making him stutter his sentences. "I-I uh, ddo you nneed and form of assistancee" Realizing how stupid he sounded he tapped himself of his head with his fist in embarrassment. 'Stupid, Stupid!' he muttered to himself. "Oh, How rude of me! I must introduce myself, I am Sir Carnaval and who might you be?" tipping his head and bowed. Thinking about it he was wondering why would she be here? This is no place for a lady he thought. By looking at the moon he assumed it was around 11:00, the light seemed about right. It was getting cold, and surely no sign of that changing any time soon. What is her purpose here? Is she lost herself?

The girl giggled at the boys stuttering, shaking her head softly as she stepped up to the strange fellow, her eyes looking over him as her lips curved into a mild smile, it was late out, why would a man like himself be here? She narrowed her eyes a bit as she bowed her head, crossing her legs and tipping her dress to the boy."My, no need to be so formal. You may call me Odette. It's nice to meet you, Sir Carnival." She looked up to the moon, guessing it was around 11:00, she was used to counting the time, but that was because she was there for what.. centuries? She could never leave. "May I ask what you're doing here?" She knew once it struck midnight, she'd... change again, and it scared her. Every night as she transformed, she'd cry herself to sleep. And when morning came, the day would repeat. She pushed the thoughts away, focusing on the boy. Was he here to make a wish?

He felt good enough to trust her. "To be honest, I am lost in this forest. I was on what you would call a "job" eventually found myself lost in this maze." Returning back a smile, be continued to ask her "You don't belong here do you? So Odette, why are you here? It isn't safe here for you, not alone at least." Carnaval stopped himself not trying to sound like her father and scold her. All he wanted was for her to be protected. A cold breeze brushed through the trees, making the lake spray a cold mist. There was a multicolored cloak hanging from his shoulders, he took it off and placed it on Odette's shoulders making her warm.

"If only I had the directions, Sir Carnival, I'd love to help.. but.." Odette's gaze fell to the ground with a saddened look, "For, I cannot leave." Her voice trailed off as she looked up at the book, shivering at the cold breeze, though warmth cradled her skin as she looked up surprised, her cheeks turning a soft shade of pink on her pale complexion. "T-thank you, that's very kind of you," she hugged the cape around her shoulders and looked to the side, side at least she had the time to guide him somewhere, it was too dangerous to stay around him for too long, he might see it. Her form. She shuttered once more at the thought but shook it away. She's heard of the countless men who tried to make a wish at that lake, or just to get her and sell her beautiful feathers. Was he one of them? No, he was generous and kind.... and very- she shook her head, looking up to him. "I can help you find a path, I know there was one somewhere, it's been.... VERY long since I remembered."

They couldn't see each other beyond the masks, was it a facade hiding a less pleasant reality? Listening to her possibilities of a way out confused him, why hasen't she left? Why can she not leave, what is keeping her back? "Odette, if anyone is leaving it will be the two of us." No matter what kept her captive, he was going to try and release her. "Why can't you leave Odette? Is someone stopping you from leaving?" What was this place, why was he sent here? Questions flooded out nonstop, giving Carnaval a headache. To keep his mind off of things he thought of something else. Odette.. what a beautiful name. So pure and calm and it fit her so well. It was unique, something he has never heard before. In his eyes that name was a treasure, something special to her and it was a honor for him to know it.

Odette stopped to listen to him, thinking on most of her own. They couldn't see past their masks, there was no telling what was behind it all. The darkness inside of her, would it come out? Her heart could fade to black, never to come and return to white, but that was up to her actions. She wished to leave, but the only way was to break the curse, and she only had one wish, and oh, what a selfish wish it was. She sighed, pulling her arms and resting it onto the boy's cheek gently, "This lake is my home, I cannot return to what I was, what I should of realized was who I really am. If only I could, I would. But, it seems my story doesn't have a happy ending. For you, you can have one." She retrieved her hand and slowly turned, flicking her index finger softly as she stared into the lake, lakes beautiful white swan reflecting back before fading. "You must leave, it's far too dangerous here."

Her home is the lake? So many questions poured out again, so much it overwhelmed him. Then those words crossed his ear, the ones he hears all the time. 'Happy Ending' A happy ending.. That is the only reason he lives, is for the sake of Happiness. His abilities could come in handy, he just needs to know what is stopping her. What was she before the beautiful girl she is now? 'I should of realized was who I really am' What? how.. Who are you Odette? He made up his mind, he wasn't going to leave this place without her. Carnaval grabs the hand that once caressed his face. "Odette, why are you hear! You have to answer me! Why is this dangerous?" She lightly tugged her arm, pulling her a bit closer to him. He wasen't planning on letting go until she gave him a answer he was satisfied with. He snapped out of it. 'I'm hurting her, I'm scaring her' He released her arm and apologized immediately.

Odette's voice trailed into gibberish words that slipped, her mind crawling with words of her own. But she was awoken by the be strange pull of Carnival, her aquatic eyes shimmering in the moon light. She smiled softly and looked down to her hand, then down to him. "If you really want to hear the story, sit down and let me tell you how it all started. After, I'll show you proof. But please," her voice dropped as well as her eyes. "You must not hate me for what I've done."

Hate Odette? That wasn't even a possibility in Carnaval's eyes. A broad rock sat beside the lake, perfect for a seat. After sitting down, his full attention was on her, keeping all of his questions until after her explaining. Before she stated he thought of what kind of proof he can give her.. What will any of this lead to and how can he help Odette. The only thing he can do now is listen to her, waiting for answers.

Odette watched the boy find a spot, smiling to herself as she stared to the lake and took a deep breath. "It was a long time ago. I believed I had everything. I had money, looks, intelligence, everything a girl could want. But, I didn't have one thing. My father never played attention to me, it was always my step mother who was beautiful, smart and even more important it seemed" she stooped and bit her lip. "Rumors went around there was a lake where if you made it to the lake and wished, subsection wish would come true. So, I snuck out and headed for the lake, here. Others said it was impossible, but in two days I made it here, even when getting lost. Of course I never played attention to the consequences of selfish wishes, I just wanted my father's attention." A small tear slipped down her cheek as she shook her head. "I wished my father only played attention to me, that my step mother would disappear. It came true. The following day I made it back home, it turned out my step mother was killed. But my father became depressed, he didn't even look at me, he couldn't even remember my name!" Red surrounded her eyes behind the mask, tears slipping down her dry cheeks. "I came back wondering why it happened, why my wish didn't work the way it wanted to. But, my wish did come true. And I had to pay the consequences. Ever since, at midnight, is when I take my punishment. I can't leave the water, I'd die at night. Just a silly bird. Beautiful lies, and a painful truth."

Carnaval didn't realizes what she had been through and felt ashamed to have pressured her. Listening to the story he felt a slight connection, something seemed familiar about everything. He just forgot all about it and tried to comfort the teary girl in fount of him. Rising up from his rock he walked to her, placing his palm onto her shoulder. "I want you to know you're safe and not alone as long as you're with me. I want to help you get out of here and that is what I plan to do. How about I tell you a little about myself." He wanted to cheer her up, so he was thinking this was the only way. The rock was now his stage, Carnaval jumped onto it and began to make a show. "I have many names, some you might say suits me more then others. I own a little place called Le Carnaval Du Destin! It translates into The Carnival of Destiny and that is exactly what it is. You can see I don't have any kind of tent, well that's because the Carnival is all within your head. You are the carnival and you control the show. You can say I grant wishes, but the last I have seen non have really backfired so you can trust me. All I need is something in return, something equal to the wish." Galloping off the rock he placed both hands on her shoulder. "You might think you have nothing to give me, but that is not true. It doesn't even have to be a object. Once you know the wish has been granted is when I have disappeared. Depending on the wish I might be able to break your curse but we are just going to have to wait and see. My magic varies and I can't guarantee on the results but can you trust me Odette?" The though of another wish might scare her and that is what he is afraid off. He doesn't want her to think he is using her just to get out of the forest. OOC: sorry I went to go eat!

OOC: Its fine, I'm too eager to fall asleep c: // Feeling the comfort from the strange boy made her feel a little more better on the inside, so she decided to listen instead. She smiled, even if his words seemed.... surprising and festive, she enjoyed his little speech, speculating a seat on the ground a few feet away from his 'stage' as she watched him with dazzled eyes in awe, but frowned. Another wish? That was the last thing she needed to hear, but what if it did break her curse? But, it would make it a lot harder to face her father knowing she could finally go home, what would he think of her? His hands placed onto her shoulders, her head jerking up. "Would you come back after you disappear?" She pondered, looking him in the eyes. "I do.. trust you. But what do you want? What haven't you gotten yet?"
