Here is the roleplay topic for Ander and Matthew's house.
It's a white, one story house with a small oak porch out front.
Inside, there is a dining room, kitchen, living room, 2 bathrooms and 2 bedrooms.
All of them are fully furnished.
Feel free to add your own little touches to the rooms.
Make yourselves at home.

This is a roleplay for Ander and Matthew.
Only they may roleplay here, unless they say that they want guests.

Why had had chosen to walk rather than take the bus, Matthew didn't know. He only wished
he had taken the bus now, since the walk to his house had turned out to be a long one and
for all he knew he'd already walked past it. Plus he had a load of luggage to draw along
with him. He looked even more of a fool than usual, dragging a huge carry case on wheels,
carrying a suitcase with his other arm laden with bags. He was considering stopping for a
while, and perhaps calling a taxi but that would mean talking to the taxi driver and he
didn't feel like speaking to anyone at the moment. So he continued walking, in the rain.

At last he found the house. He would have been happy, if he weren't already miserable that
he'd dragged all his stuff at least three miles in the rain. He shuffled up to the porch
and huddled under it, shivering and dripping. He dropped all his luggage and began
searching for the key. He found it in the back pocket of his jeans, today less baggy than
usual. He shoved it in the lock and opened the door, dragging his carry case behind him
and kicking the rest of his bags and cases through the door. He slammed it behind him and
stood in the hallway shivering for a minute. He left his luggage where it was, dumped in
the doorway, and pushed open the nearest door.
The door he'd opened turned out to lead into the kitchen. It was quite small and
unremarkable and had one other door leading out of it and into a dining room. Matthew
retreated out the way he'd came and went on to explore the rest of the house. He wandered
down the hall that lead from the front door, dripping on the carpet, and pushed open the
door at the end. It swung open to reveal a small, yet well furnished living room. Leaving
the door open he ventured into the other two rooms, small, again, though one was bigger
than the other. They both had simple beds in and a window, and an en suite bathroom.
Matthew had no idea how to work central heating, and he was freezing. Not clever enough to
think of getting a change of clothes, he grabbed a huge towel from one of the bathrooms
and a duvet off one of the beds and went to sit in the living room. He sat on the towel on
the floor, wrapped in the towel and still shivering.

Ander waved shyly at the taxi driver who dropped him off with his things in front of his
house. He dragged his feet and luggage across the wet ground, the rain pounding at the
back of his neck and soaking his chocolate brown hair. When he turned the doorknob, he was
surprised to see that it was allready open. He pushed the door open, shivering as soon as
he entered. He dropped all of his bags in the middle of the floor, then turned up the heat
with his now free hands. He left his bags there, and went to explore the small house. He
came across two bedrooms, a bathroom for each, and a small kitchen. He opened the last
door, which led to a living room. He scanned the room, until his eyes came across
something sitting in the middle of the floor, a towel covering it. It was trembling.
A-A person? Ander thought, shock sweeping over his face. "O-Oh! I-I'm sorry, I must
have the wrong house... I..." He dug around in the pockets of his baggy khaki shorts for
the slip of paper with the details on his house. He had the right house. Ander then
remembered how the boy was shivering. "Oh.. Y-you must be cold... I'll be right back,
it'll take a while for the heater to heat the whole house." He ran back to where his bags
where and pulled a medium sized patchwork quilt from his childhood out from his leather
suitcase, and ran back into the living room. He laid the blanket over the stranger and sat
next to him on the damp carpet.

OOC- Dude. That took freaking forever, my brain is expired.

Matthew was in such a sour mood and so absorbed in his own act of sitting, that he didn't
freak out when he heard the door opening, or when he heard another person moving around
the house. It was unusual for him to be so relaxed, but he wasn't really that relaxed,
just distracted and ... weird. It wasn't until the source of the noise actually entered
the living room that the panic kicked in.
"O-Oh! I-I'm sorry, I must have the wrong house ... I ..."
Matthew flinched in shock at the voice and twisted around to see who it was. Obviously no
one he recognized, he hardly knew anyone. The boy looked about Matthew's own height, and
had chocolate brown hair. His eyes were a stunning icy blue and Matthew had to stop
himself from staring.
"I, um ... yeah." He said, his own eyes racing to find something else to look at. "I
dunno, house?" The power of speech had failed him, again. He blushed and seemed to shrink
into himself, staring at the floor and fidgeting with the corner of the duvet. He heard
rustling paper and glanced up again for a second to see the stranger reading a small slip
of paper, similar to the one he'd been given with the address of the house on it. He
assumed the boy was his room-mate then, or the equivalent of. They were sharing more than
one room, after all.
Still looking at the patterned carpet, Matthew noticed the boy had left, mumbling
something about the heating. He felt oddly lonely for a moment, as well as stupid for not
being able to work the heater. The boy returned with a smallish blanket which he placed
around Matthew's shoulders, making the nineteen year old flinch involuntarily again.
"T-Thanks." He said, somewhat bemused but grateful. He smiled at the boy, careful not to
look him directly in the eyes again. "I guess we're sharing then." He carried on, his
speech faltering and quiet but coherent this time. The smile disappeared from his face as
he returned to looking at the floor, noticing that he'd made a large wet patch on the
carpet.

"I'm Matthew ... Starling." He said after a few minutes, suddenly realizing that
room-mates should be on first name acquaintance at least. He still didn't dare look at the
boy, or ask his name, or shake his hand. Social skills were not his strong point. It was
something he tried to work on and never got very far. He was a social outcast, pretty much
a loner. He could never hold onto his friends for very long and people seemed to tire of
him quickly. He was used to it. Unfortunately. He didn't want to be used to it. Everywhere
he went he saw couples, groups of friends, families. He wanted something like that. It
wasn't that he feared commitment, he had never got that far. He panicked at the first sign
of closeness, the first sign of contact. He couldn't understand it but he hated it. He
hated himself for it and he doubted there was anything he could do.
Shaking away such thoughts, he glanced sideways at the boy now sitting beside him, looking
for some sort of response.

"Ah... Oh. H-Hello... I'm Ander... Ander Snow, it's... It's nice to meet you." Ander
shyly stuck his hand out in front of him for the boy to shake, and he momentarily brought
his eyes up to look at the boy. Overall, he was quite striking. His dark brown hair fell
just above his pale brown eyes, which where hidden behind black and white glasses. Ander
had to rip his eyes away, his hand still akwardly out in front if him. His head kept
telling him to look back up and stare, but he wouldn't listen. He kept his eyes glued to
the floor. "S-So... I wasn't really expecting a roommate... How stupid of me, I should
have known when I saw the second bedroom..." He stared down at the scratches and grass
stains that where spread all over the white parts of his converse, and ran his fingers
over the rough carpet.

OOC- Akward ending, sorry. D: I couldnt think of anything better.

Matthew tried to force more warmth into his voice.
"Hi Ander." He smiled weakly. "Nice to meet you too."
To his annoyance, his voice still had a distant touch to it, not hostile, just the edge
that had crept into after spending most of his life alone. He didn't want it to sound like
that, he didn't want to make Ander think he was more anti-social and cold than he already
was. He shook Ander's hand gently, the action completely alien to him. He never got
this close to people, unless he walked into them. An unwanted feeling of panic was already
creeping over him and he'd only known the boy for what, fifteen minutes? He was being
stupid. Although, it seemed like they'd be spending a hell of a lot of time together, if
they were going to share the house, so maybe he wasn't being stupid. The closeness was
being forced on him and he naturally felt anxious. It wasn't that he didn't like Ander, it
was just the fact he'd had no say in them being thrown in together, making some sort of
awkward relationship inevitable, in the first few weeks at least.

"I wasn't told I'd have a room-mate either." He said, in vague response to what Ander was
saying. "I didn't think about the second bedroom." His voice sounded weird, but maybe that
was just him. He watched the other boy's hands run over the carpet, making funny little
patterns and lines. He had the sudden urge to grab Ander's hand, for err . . . no
particular reason. He made an odd jerking movement with his hand, as if he were going to
grab something but decided against it. He blushed again, shrinking into himself and
feeling utterly embarrassed. He avoided Ander's eyes, fixing his own to the floor a few
metres to the right.
He glanced at his watch, which said it was ten past nine in the morning. That wasn't
right. He flicked the glass to try and make the hands move, but they were stuck. It had
broken, probably from all the rain. His eyes flickered to the window, it was getting dark,
maybe it was ten past nine in the evening. He couldn't tell. He sighed, irritated. He was
one of those people who had to know what time it is. It was almost like an obsession. If
he didn't know the time, he was even more anxious and nervous than normal.
He shifted his position slightly, crossing his legs and resting one elbow on his knee, his
chin resting in his palm.
"D'you know what time it is?" He asked Ander, still not looking at him.

"Oh... Uh, the time? Just a second..." Ander pulled his old pocket watch out of his
pocket, checking the time. "Eight thirty. I think... Maybe I should start on dinner...
Or... Would you like to go to the food court? Uhmm..." Ander blushed, then thrust his old
fashioned, portable clock into his pocket. Matthew must have thought it was really wierd
that he carried around such an old styled watch, when everyone else had those snazzy
digital watches. Ander turned an odd shade of red and stared down at the floor. His mind
was still telling him to look up and lose himself in Matthew's eyes, but he quickly
decided against it and pinched himself for thinking such thoughts. "A-Are you hungry?"
Ander asked. "I'm sorry... I know this is akward."

OOC- I can't end anything properly. -_-

Eight thirty. Shit, that's too early to go to bed. Matthew wasn't even tired, he
just wanted an excuse to get out of this strange social situation. He glanced sideways at
Ander, unable to look away any more. The boy was blushing again although Matthrew wasn't
sure why.
"I'm not that hungry," he said his eyes dropping down once more to look at his hands. He
thought for a moment. He couldn't remember whether he'd had lunch or not. or breakfast.
Has he eaten at all today? He wasn't sure, but he felt like he should be hungry. "... but
I'll eat something if you are."
He half smiled, though he was still looking down. "I don't want to go out to eat ... I
..." He trailed off, his voice fading into an incoherent mumble. He thought it was pretty
obvious why he didn't want to eat out, he'd already demonstrated his shockingly poor
social skills.

He stood up, the various blankets and towels falling off his back. The damp patch on the
floor was wetter than he thought it had been. Damn, I must have been sat there a long
time. What with Ander appearing and such, he had completely lost track of time, not
that he knew how long he had been there since his watch was broken. "I should throw this
away." He muttered quietly to himself and wandered off in search of a bin. He found one in
the kitchen, but couldn't find a bin bag to put in it, so he just left his watch on the
side and went back to the living room.
His eyes naturally went straight to Ander but he forced them away, staring at his pile of
blankets and towels. "I'll, er ... tidy that up." He mumbled, blushing and moving to pick
up the mess. He extracted Ander's blanket from the pile and passed it to him without
speaking or looking at him. He left the room and dumped the heap of cloth on the floor of
the bedroom he'd stolen it from.

Going back into the living room once more, he sat in an armchair, staring at the darkened
patch of the carpet that was the puddle of water he'd left behind. "Err, which bedroom do
you want ... because I don't mind . . . " He spoke Ander, hoping the other boy could tell
he was talking. His voice had gone oddly quiet. "And um, I can't cook..." He thought it
better to warn Ander before he burnt the kitchen down. "We could always order pizza, or
Chinese... Is there even a phone here?"
He was speaking really quickly, starting to panic. He closed his eyes, concentrating on
not talking and breathing normally. He didn't dare look at Ander.

[OoC] I seem to be repeating myself too much. XD I can't end things either.

"Eh... It doesn't really matter to me, both of them are the same." Ander turned to face
Matthew, but didn't look at him. He chuckled when Matthew mentioned that he couldn't cook.
"That's okay, I can cook. I kind of had to, Forrest and Annalise can't cook at all, and
with dad never around, and mom gone... I spent forever reading cook books and researching
food... It's not really that hard." He smiled at Matthew, but for only a second or two. He
got up onto his feet, walking to the kitchen. He opened the pantry, then the mini
refrigerator, finding both empty. "Damn." He searched around for a phone, finally finding
one attatched to the wall, in the hallway. He pulled the phone book he'd gotten from Mr.
Cheswin that year out of his backpack and looked up the number for the on campus grocery
store. He requested his grocery delivery, then trotted down the hall to the living room.
"I-It may take a while, Matthew. I had to order the groceries. We would need them sooner
or later anyway, right?" He leaned akwardly against the doorframe, playing his lip ring.

OOC- xD. I dun think they would stock their kitchens, would they? .___. People on my Sims
2 game order their groceries, so I thought that would work here, too. xD

Matthew opened his mouth to say that he would take the smaller bedroom, but realized how
pathetic that would sound before he said, and closed it again. He smiled briefly at the
floor at Ander's laugh, it sounded so sweet. Rather than taking his usual course of being
freaked out by this thought, he dismissed it and pushed it to the back of his mind. He
nodded as Ander spoke, wondering who Forrest and Annalise were but not trusting himself to
ask.
He watched the boy leave and was overwhelmed by an illogical panic that he wouldn't come
back. Matthew didn't make sense, even to himself. He was forever afraid of being in
contact with people and now this person he barely new left the room, and he was
worried about whether he'd return or not. He cursed himself mentally for being so stupid
but stopped when he heard Ander's voice from the kitchen.

"Damn."

Matthew couldn't keep himself from giggling slightly at Ander's swearing. He blushed
immediately, even though there was no one else in the room and hoped desperately that the
other boy hadn't heard him. He hated his laugh, it sounded so girly. He continued to
listen and decided Ander must have found the phone, for he was talking to someone and
since he couldn't hear what the words were exactly, Matthew assumed they weren't directed
at him. He felt kind of stupid, sat on the arm of the sofa, listening to his new
room-mate's conversation but he couldn't think of anything else he could be doing.
Besides, if he tried to do anything he'd only end up embarrassing himself.

He jumped slightly when he saw Ander had come back into the room, he hadn't noticed him
stop talking. "I-It may take a while, Matthew. I had to order the groceries. We would
need them sooner or later anyway, right?" Matthew blinked and nodded, his eyes
wandering to Ander's face. This time he didn't bother trying to stop. He hadn't noticed
Ander had a lip ring, but he guessed he'd been too distracted by his eyes last time. After
what felt like ages though was really only a minute or two, he blinked again, his eye line
falling down to the floor once again.
"Oh, that's okay. L-Like I said, I'm not that hungry." He stood up straight and pushed his
hands into the pockets of his grey hoodie. "So... I guess we've just go to wait..." He
shrugged. "I'm going to get changed." He said. His clothes were still a little damp.
He grabbed his multiple cases and bags from the hallway and dragged them into his chosen
room. He chucked them all on his bed, which was still missing it's duvet, and opened his
carry case, fishing out a new pair of jeans, a white t-shirt and an electric blue hoodie.
After putting them on and putting the duvet back on his bed he returned to the living room
again.
"Anything you want to do while we wait?" He asked Ander, sitting himself on the sofa.

[OoC] XD I wouldn't have thought that far into it. I don't pay attention.

"Allright. I think I'm going to get unpacked, I hear the grocery delivery can take a
while." He walked silently down the hall, with gentle feet. Over the years of having to
creep by his father's room every night, he had perfected this. He got a firm grip on all
of his bags, and dragged them into the room that Matthew hadn't picked. He spread the
sheets and quilts across the bed, then heard a muffled yowling. "Shit!" He muttered,
trotting over to the two cages that he had left in the front room. Jimmies was still
asleep, but Freaker was awake, and as he liked to do, freaking out. He didn't like his
cage very much. "Shush, Freaker." He grabbed both handles on the cages and brought them
both into his room. He opened the doors on both of their cages, letting Freaker out. He
ran in a couple circles, then watched intently as Ander put out both of their beds and
food dishes. Closing the door on them both, he went to find Matthew. He messed with his
lip ring again, speaking nervously. "H-Hey... I'm sorry about the noise, I should have
told you about them first... I hope you don't mind. Uhm... Freaker's a skunk, but he won't
spray you or anything... Jimmies is a cat, he won't bother you at all, he's too lazy.."
Ander looked around anxiously.

OOC- That was terrible. xD

"Allright. I think I'm going to get unpacked, I hear the grocery delivery can take a
while."

"Okay." Matthew nodded, watching Ander walk out of the room. He sat quietly, happy to do
nothing for a few minutes. He tried not to think but couldn't. Various thoughts flooded
his mind, making it hard for him to concentrate on one thing. Did he have homework? No, he
didn't think so... Had he packed his toothbrush? Probably. What was he doing tomorrow? Err
. . . He didn't even know what day tomorrow was. Part of him hoped it was a weekend day.
Weekends meant no school, which meant, inevitably, more time with Ander. The thought made
him blush. But then the other half of him was panicking, of course. That part of him
wanted it to be a day where he was super busy and had no time to talk to Ander, hopefully
time in which he could come to his senses. He was so confused.

Come to his senses. He needed more than that, he needed hitting round the head with
something very hard. He was slightly dazed and embarrassed. How many times had he blushed
in the past half hour? It was too weird, he never felt like this. Over anyone. It's
just because you've got a new house, new school and stuff. It's not him, it's you. It
was really no use telling himself that. He knew there was something wrong with him. Most
likely there had been for years, but it had only just surfaced now, of all times.

He gave a start as a strange, muffled yowling came from the hallway. He leant sideways but
couldn't see around the door frame. He had never heard anything make that noise and
wondered what the hell it was, waiting for Ander to come back in and explain the source of
the odd noise.
"H-Hey... I'm sorry about the noise, I should have told you about them first... I hope
you don't mind. Uhm... Freaker's a skunk, but he won't spray you or anything... Jimmies is
a cat, he won't bother you at all, he's too lazy.."

A skunk and a cat? Matthew blinked again, bemused, but grateful the noise wasn't anything
stranger than that.
"It's all right." He shrugged. He didn't particularly like animals but as long they didn't
bother him it should be okay.
He got up and went into the kitchen, opening all the cupboards until he found the one that
had glasses in. He took two out and looked around for Ander. "H-hey, d'you want a drink?"
He asked.
He found no juice in the fridge and no cordial in the pantry. Looks like it's just
water then he thought, running the cold tap. He filled both glasses and downed his own
in one, leaving Ander's on the side. He leant against the radiator, still clutching his
empty glass, staring at the kitchen floor.

"Ah, okay... I'll make sure that Freaker doesn't bother you very much, he can be kind of
annoying." Ander followed Matthew into the kitchen and took a glass of water, sipping at
it weakly. He leaned against the open space on the furnace and stard down at his half-full
glass, an akward silence falling over the two of them. If his brother, Forrest, where
there, He would probably shout something random like "gay baby" in his Irish accent, as he
always did. Ander chuckled at such thoughts. The doorbell rang loudly soon after, and he
reached for the doorknob quickly. The delivery boy loaded Ander's arms with paper bags
full of his requested groceries, and he set then on the floor behind him. He pulled out
his wallet and handed the delivery boy the required payment, then with a quick "thank
you", he closed the door. He turned to look over the bags of groceries. There where ten in
all that he counted. "Eh, do you want to put these away or do something else and put them
away later? It's up to you, I don't really care." Ander said, secretly proud of himself
for getting through more than one sentence without stuttering.

Matthew smiled automatically as Ander laughed quietly at something he must have thought.
He was more relaxed now, almost sleepy, probably from the heating. He refilled his glass
and drank more slowly this time, surprised at how thirsty he was. The silence now filling
the room as somewhat less awkward than before, though still not comfortable enough to feel
completely normal. Whatever that felt like. He kept his eyes down still, deciding he had
stared at Ander enough already. The kitchen was becoming rather boring however and he
needed something more interesting to distract himself with. Uncontrollable nerves were
creeping up on him again, he constantly required a distraction so as not to accidentally
embarrass himself.
Luckily it came, in the form of a ringing bell. Very easily distracted, Matthew was.
However it wasn't just some random bell, it was the doorbell. Matthew was no good at
answering doors himself, he was always too shy and nervous of who it might be. Fortunately
Ander went to answer it, so he was all right to stand and merely be distracted. He stared
at the delivery boy for a bit, watching him unload bagfuls of groceries and dump them on
Ander. He decided he wanted the delivery boy's hat, it was quite cool. Matthew liked hats,
and hoods, they hid his hair. He didn't like his hair much.

Ander came back into the kitchen clutching at least ten bags full of various groceries and
drinks, and whatever else the delivery boy had given them.
"Eh, do you want to put these away or do something else and put them away later? It's
up to you, I don't really care."
"Err, I dunno." Matthew said, a little bewildered that Ander had asked him such an odd
question. "We can put them away now I guess."
Might as well get it over and done with now. He reached to take some of the bags
off Ander, his hand brushing against the other boy's. An automatic flush appeared on his
cheeks and he turned away quickly, unpacking the groceries.
"Where do all these go?" He asked, still blushing and feeling more stupid by the second.
He was no use in a kitchen, he had never had anything to do with food at home. No
wonder my mum was so pleased to get rid of me he though. Once he would have felt
miserable that his mother saw him as a failure, no use to anyone, but he had got over that
a while ago. He was just please to be away from her now. He missed his brother, Jacob,
though. I must email him he thought as he poked a stick of celery. "Where the hell
does this thing go?" He said, half to himself, waving the vegetable in the air
hopelessly.

Ander laughed, patting Matthew on the back and taking the stick of celery. He opened the
fridge and pulled out the drawer meant for fruits and veggies, tossing the stick of celery
in. He pointed the correct places out in the refrigerator, naming off their uses. "Eggs go
there, milk and stuff go there, veggies go there, fruits can go either there or in the
same drawer as the veggies, and everything else can just go on the shelves. I'll take care
of the pantry, kay? Just ask me if you need help. He started taking out things such as
cereal and crackers and putting them in the pantry installed into the wall. He left things
meant for the refrigerator for Matthew to put away. After he had finished that, he went to
peek over Matthew's shoulder at what he'd done so far. Matthew seemed a bit confused, but
he wasn't doing too bad. "Good job, you need any more help?" Ander asked, his hand on
Matthew's shoulder. He patiently waited for his roommate's reply.
