Light tapping of keyboards, small murmurs from the students and a lot of mouse clicking is heard from the room. Inside, you'll see students availing of the net service, an occasional lesson is heard, and faces near the screen. This place is not as quiet as the library, yet it is a match, for it is the second quietest room in the school. {|Note: Lessons are occasional because most of the time, classes are held in other places. Most often in the Research Writing Room, and the student council room.|} Professors: Hilaya Maroon - Monday and Tuesday Mornings; Saturday Afternoons {|I and IV|} Justin Mendoza - Thursday and Friday Mornings; Wednesday Afternoons {|II and III|}

Nico opened one of the double doors, only to find that the teacher hadn't arrived yet. He had made a mad dash from the library, running across the manicured lawn, ignoring the shouts of protest from the same cranky gardener from earlier this morning. Clutching the map and glancing at the the wrinkled piece of paper every few steps, he managed to make it there in six minutes. He had been only lost to the point where he took a wrong turn, but had realized it immediately. Nicolas took the chair at the second row from the front, taking the computer that was a column away from the end. He took out the kerchief he usually carried and randomly started twisting it in his fingers. It was an odd habit, but it was all he could do to pass the time for now.

Alex stumbled through the door a few moments later, panting. Thank god, the teacher
wasn't here yet. He'd dropped off his books at his dorm room and was using the toilet when
the class bell rang. Memorizing the campus layout had saved him some time, at least. He
probably wouldn't have had to run as much if he'd just cut across the grass. But he'd
decided to play it safe when he saw the old gardener angrily chasing after someone who'd
dared to step on his preciously kept grass while brandishing a rake. How stupid. Why would
anyone maintain all that grass if the only point was so it could look pretty?

He flopped into a chair in the middle of the second row and thumbed the on button of the
computer in front of him. He waited patiently for the teacher to arrive.

"Good morning students." Sir Maroon said, stepping into the air-conditioned room. He was quickly followed in by a few lost first years and some late older students. "I'm Sir Maroon, and I'll be your ICT teacher for the semester. Glad to meet you all." Even if his expression said otherwise. Pressing the power-button on Alex's CPU, he watched the screen go blank. "We won't be needing the computers for today. Parts of the internal hard drive for all of you today, level one or four." As he started discussing, some of the older years eyes started drooping. "And this is the . . . and its function is to . . ." Nico tried absorbing all the pointless details but soon his pen rolled off the pristine notebook paper. He rubbed his eyes, trying to fix his blurred vision of the graying professor. Sheesh, if I knew it was going to be this boring, I wouldn't have signed up. He couldn't wait until he could leave. He was free for the whole day. His next class was after dinner, so he was free to explore the campus. Oh, and go e-mail his family about the scooter request. Nicolas picked up the lousy pen again and attempted to keep up with the boring, droning, voice.

After about 10 minutes of listening intently to him, Alex realized he knew most of what
his first professor was droning on about. Not surprising, really. He'd built several
computers and worked a summer job at a electronics store. Not to mention his father was an
IT tech. He struggled fruitlessly for a few more moments as the professor recited a dry
description of something or other. After a few minutes Alex stopped listening to the
professor entirely and instead started scribbling out a program into his notebook. Somehow
Sir Maroon's voice seemed unusually soporific; Alex sleepily imagined sleep-inducing
spores traveling on the sound waves coming from his mouth.

He checked his watch. Hopefully his next class would be more interesting.

"Well, I'm letting you all off early today. Good-bye class." And then Sir Maroon sat on the teacher's chair and promptly started typing without glancing at the rising students. The noise level went up a bit, but not so much as that the professor had to tell of of them to shut up. "Good-bye class." Nico shook his head, trying to clear his groggy head. First time to sleep in class. Wow. As he quickly pocketed his pen and placed the notebook that was devoid of writing and filled with scribbles, he realized that the person he had helped earlier was his classmate. "Hi there." He said, a boyish smile coming across his face. He was going to need some help if he had to stay awake during class. Nico took a quick peep at what Alex had been scribbling on his notebook. Nico half-expected notes, but instead saw a program. "So that's how you were able to keep awake," Not realizing he had said it aloud.

Alex turned his head in the direction of the comment. Oh, it was the guy who'd helped
him with his books earlier. Alex gave him a polite smile.

"I probably would've had a brain aneurysm if I'd actually tried to listen for more than 5
minutes", he added, before turning back to his desk.

He'd already memorized his schedule but quickly flipped it out of his bag to double check
anyways. The rest of his day was free. A perfect opportunity to get some reading done
before classes started in earnest. Alex snapped shut his notebook and checked a map of the
campus (kept impeccable within a plastic sheet protector) before stashing both in his
grey-laptop bag and standing up to leave.

"So, what class do you have next?" Nico took out the folded map of the school, behind it, where he had quickly scribbled his schedule. It was nuisance to have to carry to papers. He glanced at the nearly indeciperable words and saw that the next class he had was at nighttime. He should probably get online in the dorm he shared with this Alexander person. Come to think of it, he hadn't even met his own roommate yet he was already asking about another person's schedule. As Nico waited for his companion to finish preparing his stuff, he asked another question. "Only now that I realized it, but may I ask about your name?"

"Huh?" In his overly organized mind, Alex had already forgotten about his classmate. He
was mentally organizing the list of books from the library, trying to decide which he
should read first. Being jarred out of his inner-world annoyed him, but he might as well
be polite. He thought about one of the many random pieces of advice his sister had burned
into his brain by repeating it every day for a month before he left.

"Oh, and Buttercup, stop being such an anti-social jerk. It's like, bad for your
health, okay?" Stupid smart kid. She knew he'd remember her words whether he wanted to
or not. Alex turned back, trying not to frown.

"I only have Computers on Monday. I'm Alexander. Just call me Alex for short. And your
name?""

Nico sensed that he his new acquaintance wasn't very fond of people. Since he had rarely encountered that type of person before, he didn't know how to react, so he behaved in the manner he usually did. "That's convenient. I have another class later, but it's after dinner, so I'm pretty much free for the day." Suddenly, he replayed what he had said in his mind. "Wait, I believe you said Alexander? Oh, so you're the one I'm sharing a room with. My name's Nicolas Van Leeuwenhoek, but people mostly call me Nico." He ginned as he mentioned his last name. "Someone like you already knows who Leeuwenhoek is, and thank goodness. It gets tedious to explain the same thing over and over again." Remembering the books that Alex had chosen while he was at the library, he started wondering himself what he was going to do during his spare time. "So which book are you going to start with? I saw a few familiar titles, I read through a few back in high school. Particularly the one by Richard Dawkins. It was an interesting read. I think I went through it twice. And that means it can amuse you, since it's pretty rare for me to reread books."
OOC: I think Whaaaa stopped logging into kupika. Whoever wants her character, it's up for grabs. However, I forbid you from changing his personality. Just message me about this. :] I'll take care of the character transfer.
