Due to popular request, you can now change your display name.

Go to Edit profile - Change display name

No, you cannot change your nickname... because your nickname is your permanent ID in
Kupika. It is not a good idea to change your nickname.

If you find any errors in Kupika, please report here...
it's most likely caused by this new feature.

Also, if you have any suggestions, do tell.
I am still experimenting with the format and placement of display name.

yeah it wont let me pick "Hina"

......

i think it mucks up FT a bit with the names taking up more space than the Fleeting Thought
and less of FT on the space in general. if its possible i think in that space the names
should be smaller font than the Fleeting Thought and/or one more horizontal line should be
added to compensate.

also i think the parentheses are unnecessary. when one clicks it and goes to profile they
will see the Nickname so they are ugly and just taking up space.

but if you wanted to have a visual distinction between display name and nickname i would
go either with a font change or a slight color change. dark blue for permanent nickname,
lighter blue for displayname. the differences would be apparent and people would catch on
quickly.

Personally... I don't like it. :/

I don't know why... it just looks strange. And I agree with Eddie above.

... one more horizontal line should be added to compensate.
what do you mean by that? There are always 8 thoughts displayed and the rows should expand
to display all.

Doing color/font variation is a subtler hint compared to adding brackets...
Even though they are ugly, brackets are better in showing the difference.
(which means, better in preventing impersonation)

It just looks like its bigger? maybe its the spaces withthe brackets? it seems to me like
there is less FT now...maybe it an optical illusion

thats a good point, there are a lot of people that wouldnt even pay attention to a color
variation or get what it means, especially at first......but.....as i said jokingly to
start...it didnt let me put Hina which i tested to see if you would prevent other's
nicknames from being used....so isnt that preventing impersonation?

if you have it setup so that a displayname cant be a name in the permanent nickname
database which seems to be the case, the point of about impersonation seems to be muted a
bit

..........also along those lines....is it possible for the owner of mulitple accts to
select the names that they own? that could be useful. Say one person is currently on their
"oekaki drawing acct" workign aong but they also want to chat in FT and want their friends
to know its them or just want to be recognized by their "main acct"...it would be useful
if they could change their display name to their regular acct's name....

but that wouldbe tricky programming im sure...

Haha, perhaps just an optical illusion :p

Yes, you cannot use an existing username as your display name.
But what if someone uses "Oroborus66" as his display name, then later he changes to
"nobodyperson".
Then, one month later, another person uses "Oroborus66" as his nickname, and so he is
instantly associated with the previous person. My point here is: display name and nickname
are two different things, and should not be confused/blurred. Make it as clear as
possible.

Not likely. Doing so would give the message that I endorse/support the use of multiple
accounts. I do not. They slow down the server and take away the available nicknames. Why
do you need an "oekaki drawing account" anyway? Now you can store up to 200 oekakis in
your account. And, if you ever reach that limit, you should keep the best ones and delete
the not-so-good ones.

wow really i didnt realize oekaki limit had changed? well i dont need one i draw for crap
anyways...i just noticed that others had such accts...

ive got some multiples but i like to think i use them for specific purposes......my
Tom_o_Bedlam project, Kupika_Museum, my assassin accts for thumbs-down bombing ^^

but changing accts cause one is tired of the name is very annoying to me....especially
when you get to be good friends with them and you have it in your head that they are
called by that name on kupika....so im not really sure i support the whole display name
option anyways....seems like unnecessary vanity or something..

...........

but i still want to lobby for having at least a second if not third option of
Kupi-Character design....sometimes i want to be Clark Kent instead of Superman

I dislike it.
Its wierd how it shows up above your username.
And it wierd how its in ( ).

Plus I wouldn't waste my KupiPoints on a new name thingy, when I could just make a new
acount.

Or get over that I dont like my username.
And its just my opinion.

Well, I don't think it will work. Since, it will be Permanent, and why do we have to pay
5kp? Does the Money go to Hina? But I just wondered why, and I don't think it's working
for me.....

Its wierd how it shows up above your username.

Which other place do you suggest?

And what do you suggest to differentiate nicknames and display names?
(font and color variation has been discussed above)

LunarDawn: what's not working?

The kp requirement is there to prevent people from changing their display name every 10
seconds.

This is going to be way too confusing :/ I'm not all for having to load someone's profile
to know who I'm talking to in FT tbh.

Hina needs to accept my new account!
