Well, Yes. Most people if there in there don't care about the president, but some people do. If the people who don't care get asked to vote, they'll probably turn it down. People who do care will vote, and hopefully for the right person. Every opinion counts, even if it is a bad one.

Theoretically, there is a good argument for not letting prisoners vote.

Voting is participation in the democratic system, and in that system everyone is required
to accept and abide by the outcome (i.e. the laws set by and enforced by the government).
Prisoners, having committed a crime of some magnitude (according to the government) have
breached that agreement to abide by the rules.

Since they have broken the rules set by the government, they have demonstrated a lack of
respect for the government's power, and as such should not be allowed to decide who
actually wields that power.

I've explained that pretty shoddily, but hopefully it makes sense.

Of course, none of us really believe voting makes any difference, surely? Here's a
quiz: who has more power in a democracy: the person (or small group of people) who gets to
decide whether prisoners are allowed to vote, or yourself as a voter?

Well yes acctually.

The right to vote is not a privlage but a duty. So my teacher puts it anyway. Anyway, the
people in prison might have made a mistake or had some serious mental issues to be where
they are but they are still citizens. They should have to vote because like I said before
it is a duty not a privlage. I know there are some people who choose not to vote and
frankly I understand our polictics are idiots. But there are others who are empty minded
or distracted by the luxuries that these people say they will provide for us that they
don't. But yes prisoners should have the right to vote.
