Seems harmless... It's just a field, really. There's all types of flowers you can imagine in arrays of bright yellow and warm orange mixed with green just about everywhere. There is also a large, peculiar box in the middle of the clearing...hm...

Berkeley wandered into the botanical wonderland. He'd heard some shopowner speak about it
to a tourist, and wondered why he'd never come to the field. It was a nice place, and less
menacing than the looming, towering trees of the forest.

However, unlike the forest, it seemed to be the future site of the war's dumpster. There
was a big box right in the center of the area. The brunette doll frowned at it, then made
his way to it, enjoying the feel of the short flowers grazing his porcelain calves through
his pant legs. The rhythm of the sound of the disturbed flowers seemed in sync with the
shuffle of the cards in his pants pocket. He stopped just a few feet away from it, and
stared at it.

"You're recyclable, you know that?" he spoke to the box, tilting his head. He wondered if
the anti-war group had dumped it there. Symbolism, or whatever?

Freya's eyes grogilly opened as she awakened from her sleep. She could have sworn she had heard voices coming from somewhere. She popped her head out of the top of the box and squinted. Some stupid kid, she presumed. "How long have you been here?" She asked inquisitively. "That's a little creepy, ki--whoa." She noticed the boy's limbs, each made out of porcelain. In fact, his whole body was made of the breakable material! She wondered what would happen if she "accidentally" dropped a baseball bat on his stomach. The sickening thought made her smile. "Hey, kid. I'm Freya," She said in a drippingly sweet voice with a very obvious undertone of immediate hatred for the breakable boy. She hated all things fragile. "Welcome to my humble abode."

Berkeley frowned, his eyebrows scrunching up in a confused manner. Really? A field? He
shook his head gently, then stared at the girl. She was blonde and...Well, he could only
see her head. She didn't seem as weird as the characters he'd met before. Yet, oh wait...

"You live in a box," spoke he, disregarding whatever she'd said, and the urge to kick the
flimsy-looking home. "How is this humble? You'd think the leaves of the flowers tied
together with the petals would made a better place to live." It was mean, but to him it
was also honestly. He'd dig a foxhole before ever thinking of a box.

Pure rage boiled inside of Freya's entire being. She was totally going to smash this porcelain boy. "Well I don't think being made out of some fuckin' porcelain is very practical either," She said sharply, lowering her head slowly back into her home. She looked around the extra two inches of space she had for a baseball bat. Nothing, of course. She had hidden her personal belongings throughout some nearby trees, but she never even had thought of possessing a baseball bat. Since she had no money, she couldn't even go out and buy one. This thought made her even angrier. Why can't I have nice things?! she thought to herself. Yet Freya was proud of her home. It was all hers. Anyone who insulted could go fuck themselves. "At least my box won't break!" She said loudly to the boy without even lifting her head to look at him. She didn't need to see his filthy face. Damn porcelain boy and his proper snobby attitude.

The brunette boy looked as crestfallen as the day he turned to his complete state. His
eyes read horror. Nobody had ever been so blunt to him before, but he'd never talked to
many.

It was bound to happen, he reasoned to himself as his subconscious tried to pick up the
broken pieces of his dignity. He wasn't going to let some jerk get the best of him, and he
found his words.

"Well, if you had some ounce of smartness," he said, gesturing towards the box, "you'd
live in an alley or under a bridge or something. It's what all the reasonable hobos do."
He noticed them in the park, on the side of the roads, on a bench or two. They'd been
kicked out from their homes after they were caught in the crossfire of the war, or they
were veterans of a previous war. Berkeley didn't wanna ask her. Perhaps when she'd settled
down. Maybe she got kicked out of her dormitory for being too loud. As far as he was
concerned, it was plausible.

The horror in the child's eyes hurt something deep down in Freya, though she couldn't understand what. The horror reminded her of something; someone. Perhaps it was... "Smartness?" Freya cackled, raiding her head so only her squinty eyes were seen to the boy. "If you had any intelligence, you would know smartness isn't a word!" When the kid started to ramble on about homeless people, Freya became distant. Her eyes glassed over and she couldn't move. She really was homeless. She didn't know where she was, she couldn't remember her home and she was living in a cardboard box of all things. A single tear threatened to escape from her right eye. How pathetic... She thought to herself. Fray, you are so pathetic... She focused her attention back to the dollboy. "Well, if you're so high and mighty, where do you live?"

"Northwest side of town," he answered with a sigh. He used to go to an elite
uniform-policy school just two blocks from his house. His mind escaped to his parents, and
how they frantically pulled him out of school. Crowded, narrow hallways and tough gym
classes didn't seem appropriate for him anymore. He'd completely forgotten about it. An
elementary school dropout. Who would've thought?

"I have a dictionary there, so don't worry about me," he hissed, snapping back to present
time, where he was talking to the girl with greater age- and apparently wisdom- but less
social ranking. He felt more sour than usual, and his face contorted the more he thought
about the education he wasn't getting.

Noticing the kid's face contort into an even stranger face every second, Freya began to become worried. "...Look, I'm sorry, kid." She appologized, only half meaning it. She didn't mean to be so cruel, honestly, she just was. "What's wrong?" She finally asked, starting to feel a weird caring feeling for this boy. She contemplated why she would even care and what would cause this and it all led back to her. Because no matter where you run you cannot run from yourself.

Berkeley's instant and brisk reply was, "Nothing. Don't apologize," and he attempted to
glare at her, but it came out more morose than anything. One doesn't know what is had
until it's gone, and he wished she would go back to yelling. Sentimentality was equivalent
to discomfort in his mind.

Alas, he sighed. She was a girl in a box in the middle of a garden. What did he have to
lose?

"You reminded me of school," he said in resentment, as if blaming her. Saying the word
"school" was a peculiar thing to him, and he felt that way as he said it.

"Was it a big school? Was it pretty? Was it small--hey, are you making fun of my height?! Are you imply I'm as fat as a building or maybe I'm a failure midget building or.." Freya shut her mouth and stopped her ramble. "Okay, sorry, a little carried away there, but I haven't gone to school since I was nine so... so I wouldn't know." She said in a monotonous voice. "If you want you can... you can tell me about it?" She said hopefully, wanting to hear his stories.

"I can only see your head," he pointed out. She seemed to really like that box. He would
ditch it in a second, but she seemed attached. He shrugged off the curiosity, for now.

"It was a big school," he answered, sticking his hands in his pocket. "When I first
transferred, I pushed a sixth grader off the stairs. He was stupid for running into the
principal on the way down." He jutted out his lips, not wanting to talk anymore. He hoped
it would ward off the need for storytime.

"So, what's the story behind the box?" he asked, quickly attempting to change the subject.
Like a preschooler in an ornate museum, he was tempted to touch the box in question. He
decided against it. Who knew what she was capable of?

As Berkeley spoke on, Freya slowly climbed out of her box and sat on the ground in front of him. A pang of self-conciousness startled her as she realized her one little wing was sticking out of the slits her made in her shirt. She was embarrassed, only having one normal wing and shifted her position to hide it a little better from the kid. Freya nodded at the kid's description of his school, a little jealous that he could remember it so well. "The box? What bo-- oh, my house." She acknowledged. "I-I don't know. It's all I have, I suppose. I found it on a city street and it seemed sturdy. I don't really own anything else besides some clothes and a makeup kit from--" She cut herself off. "Nevermind. it's from a distant place." She stated bitterly, not wanting to remember.

Berkeley observed the girl in puzzlement. She didn't seem very comfortable out of her
house-box-thing, as she was shifting somewhat. He felt a pang of tiredness, probably from
the exertion he'd applied to venturing all the way out to the field. He slowly lowered
himself until his butt hit the dirt, and sat Indian style across from the teenage girl, an
agonizing task for someone with such stiff limbs.

"What, is it from some kinda conspiracy military base I can't know about without you
killing me?" he said with a frown. Usually he was the one keeping things from other
people, not the other way around.

Tessa walked in the field and inhaled the sent of the plants growing around her.
Her camera hung around her neck it was heavy but she had grown used to it over the years.
She continued walking and saw a boy with porcelain skin and a girl. But to her the girl
seemed different.
