so i was walking through a local branch library today, did yall know that theyve got
shelves and shelves of manga there? i was like wow. its a small branch so it kind of
sucks....but its clean and nice park location..

anyways it got me thinking about that its soon gonna be summer break for most of you and a
chance to do more leisure reading..last summer we did that summer reading challenge where
we were just sort of noting what we read and the number of pages..and it was ok..

i was wondering though if anyone has any ideas for a contest to do over the summer related
to reading? I know that we had talked about an essay contest...and probably do that
sometime later...but for summer reading are there any good ideas?

i was thinking maybe like a challenge where we had to read one book of at least 250 pages
each from like 7 different genres: romance, scifi, western, mystery, biography, fantasy,
and wildcard/your choice

but how to turn that into a contest im not sure yet...any ideas?

......
also vaguely related to this: how do yall get your books during the summer? do you get
them at the public library and if so how good is your library?, do you buy them? if so
where?, do you have books in your own library/at home yovue not read yet (thats me), or do
you read online books only?

i have bought maybe twelve books ( in a novel form ) in my lifetime . XD everything else i've read in sittings at the bookstore , or have borrowed . & as for the contest idea , maybe you could have ( like the Oprah bookclub ) an Oroborus bookclub , where you suggest books for us to read ( or anybody else suggests them , blahblah ) and then maybe you could hold a contest something along the lines of who could write the best paper on it ? i don't really know to be honest XD
oh so insane . ♥

Suggestion/Idea: Why don't we make an E-book Library/Club/Thread or whatever?

I don't know much about HTML coding to get the texts to download off here but we could
just paste the link to where the text is.

I'm one of the ones who loves to read but never has time to go to a library/bookstore or
I'm simply too lazy to do so. I'm sure that I'm probably not the only person with the same
issue on here. Or like BookTheif's issue; her library doesn't have much selection of
books. Or there simply isn't any money for books

That'd be a big helper for some people.

and available to all. actually ive got a ton of pdf books. i could put one where people
coulddownload it from my site. thats another thought the good thing about this idea is
that it lets everyone read the book in question if they want to and they dont have to go
to the library or if their library is crappy or buy it so i do like that idea....let me
look at what ive got and what is out there and then we can discuss whether we woud like to
move forward with a summer reading club..

It didn't really last and all we really had that we were able to order were kid books,
which I happen to not be very interested in,and most everyone else wasnt either

I have over 90 books at my house that I own, I've read about 20 or so, maybe less, from
school's library, we have no public one around where I live, and I have over 80 ebooks
from various sites like gutenburg and free-ebooks.com...

adnd a book club sounds interesting..
