Mrs. Mugg: Ok, because there is no teacher here, I will teach.

Ok. Open your books to page forty-five.

Quotations.

EXAMPLE:

"When will the teacher arrive?" said the girl.

Quotation is a two mark symbol that you put at the beginning and end of where some one
talks.

you must adress who is talking.

If the saying is at the beggining, you use a comma, not a period, at the end of the
saying. I will explain more later.

Correct the sentances:

Problem 1: I saw a cat today. said Lila.

Answer please.

lachia. Sorry but you are already a student but soon i am going to open a kids room where
kids can hold their own little teaching club!!

ashleeredger, Im sorry, but your incorrect. you forgot the comma. This is the correct way:

"I saw a cat today," said Lila.

Good try, though!

oh. I thought that you only put a comma if your carrying on like this: " I saw a cat
today," said Lisa, " and it was black." but ok

I know. when your adressing the person after the quote, and it is a period one, you put a
comma after the quote in the place of the period.

Problem 2.

where did you see the cat said hue.

Anyone?
