Resting on a rock with her feet submerged in the water was Naida, the curious yet
shy faerie. She had managed to slip past her family members, enabling her to get close
enough to the shore to have a view of the 'outside world'. Though it didn't seem like
anybody was present at the moment, she didn't move from her spot on the rock, so she would
be able to quickly get back in the water just in case someone would appear. Just the
wonderful sight of land was good enough for her, and she would stay put until something or
perhaps someone would require her to do otherwise.

Vulpine groaned as she plopped down on the cliff that gave a wondrous sight of the ocean. She wanted to swim, to play. She let her feet dangle off the edge of the dropping land and laid her back onto the flat part that spread out behind her. She lifted a strand of hair and twirled it round her finger. She watched the clouds passed by above her head. The girl with red-brown hair had on a white dress, bringing out her hair and eyes as they contrast the brightness of her skin and dress. The dress reached down to her mid thigh and was spaghetti strapped. It hugged her torso and flared out once it reached her hips. Vulpine kicked her legs playfully, and one of her black flat shoes flew off. "My shoe!" She sat up quickly and reached out to it, but it was already too late to catch it. She watched it fall, the wind catching it occasionally to drift it further away. Her bottom lip pulled out slightly, then she realized it fell near the ocean line, and not too far off another girl had sat there. Vulpine jumped up and started to hop down the rocks on the cliff, her balance impeccable due to her fox side, just to reach the shoe that fell off her foot.

Naida swung her legs back and forth through the water making sure not to swing
them too hard so she wouldn't fall off of the rock from losing her balance. Moving her
left hand towards the water, she dipped it in before scooping it back up, collecting some
of it in the palm of her hand. She smiled lightly as she enjoyed the cool feeling the
water had left on her hand, even more so when the wind blew, cooling her skin even more.
She would have continued to admire it if it weren't for her seeing something fall from the
corner of her eye. Looking up from her hand, Naida was greeted by a black shoe resting not
far from where she was sitting.

"Oh?" The water faerie hadn't realized that another person was in the area, so she was
confused as to where the shoe came from. She used both of her hands to gently push herself
off of the sturdy rock, slowly making her way towards the object in order to inspect it.

Vulpine was breathing at a faster pace when she reached the bottom, her heart racing form the exercise. She jogged towards the shoe, her one foot burning each time it touched the warming sand. The girl nearly fell twice trying to just move across with one foot, hopping, but she would safe herself by flips and cartwheels. She never failed to stop herself from falling onto the ground and hurting herself, not if she was trying to protect someone else. The girl was a few yards away from the shoe when she noticed another girl coming this way. Vulpine tilted her head, curious to what she was doing here.

Naida picked up the shoe, shaking it lightly and brushing it with her fingers to
get rid of any sand that might have stuck on. Her fingers twitched at the texture, having
not felt anything like it before. The only thing she knew about what she held in her hand
was that it was meant to be worn on feet, something that Naida had never been given the
chance to do so before. Her feet were always bare to swim more effectively in the waters,
and she didn't mind walking on land the way they were.

After a while of examining the shoe, Naida lifted her head up to see a girl. A girl who
was hopping with one foot, while the other was prevented from touching the ground. A girl
with a missing shoe who stood not far from Naida, and a shoe with a missing owner that she
held. Put two and two together and she finally realized that the shoe she held must have
belonged to the girl she was seeing. "Th-this is hers.." she muttered to herself, raising
the shoe a bit higher so the girl could see.

Soon, she noticed what the mysterious girl was doing. She was examining the shoe, as if she had never seen something like it. It made Vulpine curious to as of why she would act this way. Would it be the brand they happen to be, or the style they are? It hit a nerve with her, making her wish to ask questions. She soon figured it wasn't worth worrying over, as long as she could get her shoe back. Vulpine hopped over to the girl, relieved she didn't run off with her shoe she held. "Thanks so much." Vulpine's voice was soft and fragile, as if it could break, but it also had a ring to it, as if it was a pleasant bell. She gently took the shoe from the girl's hands and placed it on her foot, lowering it to the hot sand that didn't burn her skin anymore. She smiled at the girl. "I'm glad you got a hold of my shoe before it went into the ocean. It would've been difficult to get back." Being formal, she bowed her head to show her thankfulness as she spoke in the politest manner she knew.

Naida was taken aback by the sound of the girl's voice. It was so soft and nice to
hear, unlike the other voices she heard the first few times she had gotten close to land.
The girl's voice wasn't the only thing Naida found interesting about her. Her manners, in
her opinion, were quite strange. Her head was bowed and Naida didn't know why it was.
Perhaps it's a common gesture among creatures of the land? she thought.

"Ah, it's no problem at all." said Naida. Thinking that the bow was more of a greeting
than anything, she bowed her head as well, doing her best to imitate the person in front
of her. She didn't know much about how to relate or to socialize with people so different
than her own, so the only thing she could do was to hope that she wasn't making a fool of
herself. "I wouldn't let such a precious thing drift away from its owner." If it were any
other person, the water faerie would get back in the water right after the deed was done.
But the girl in front of her? She was interesting, to say the least. And Naida knew she
would feel uneasy all day until she'd learn more about her. It worked the same way with
anything else she would discover, be it a new place to explore or a new plant. She was a
curious girl and never walked away without learning something,

Vulpine wanted to giggle when the other girl bowed from misunderstanding her purpose for it, but didn't. Instead, she smiled, baring some of her front teeth in a friendly way. "It's much appreciated." She then glanced around, looking for any signs of family or habitation of the girl in front of her. "Hm...if you don't mind me asking, do you live around here?" She tilted her head slightly, showing it was mere curiosity and nothing more. She remembered the female in front of her also mistaken her way of being thankfulness and threw up her hands in an apology fashion. "Sorry, you don't have to answer it if it makes you uncomfortable...," her voice managed to get softer, " don't have to answer." It was barely audible, but it could be managed. Vulpine's cheeks flushed with embarrassment as soon she herself realized she wasn't a very good at conversing with others.

Before answering the girl's question, Naida let herself use a moment to take a
good look at the being in front of her and observe her somewhat. Naida found her
fascinating, the way she'd bow, raise her hands a bit in the air and other gestures and
habits that the water faerie didn't understand. She didn't understand a lot of things, but
she was eager to find out what they meant. After taking in all that she could about the
girl, she decided that it was time for herself to answer the question.

"My home is in the waters." said Naida, her voice breaking the silence and awkwardness
that was lingering in the air and atmosphere around them. "It lies deeper into the ocean,
but I often come here whenever chance I get." she told the person in front her. She held a
fond look in her eyes as she spoke about her home. "I am Naida, one who lives in water.
Who are you, one who lives on land?" she questioned, feeling that it was her turn to ask a

OOC: It's ok. I've been busy, and it took me a while to think of a way to respond, so you aren't the one who had to wait the longest. D: Sorryyy. Vulpine noticed Naida's stillness. She noticed the way she was being stared at, as well. Being examined. She avoided the thought as her body started to get warm from embarrassment. The last thing she wanted to do was transform, and that's what would happen if she started to get attached to the conversation. The dark haired girl looked down as the other started to discuss her habitat, trying to reorganize her thoughts and feelings. Interests sprung up once the sea was mentioned. Her head lifted back up and her eyes brightened. "You live in the sea? No wonder I haven't met you!" Her voice filled with excitement as she spoke, then she stopped herself, placing a few fingers on her lips to pause and recollect. "Ah, I live on the plateau not too far from the edge of the cliff." She pointed up where she once descended, showing the location she was speaking of. She smiled and rubbed the back of her head. "I only took note of this place recently when I noticed that there was something beyond the cliff than just land." She glanced at the water, obviously meaning she was happy there was an ocean.

Naida's gaze followed the direction where the finger was pointed at. She noticed
that up on the cliff, there was more than just sand, more than just flat ground. Her eyes
twinkled with curiosity at this, before turning back to Vulpine. "It's a wonder how these
structures of land are formed." she thought aloud, making up scenarios in her head of the
possible ways land could have been made. "The variety and diversity are one of the things
that make this place so interesting and beautiful." Naida wasn't used to voicing out her
opinion on things foreign to her, so she just left it at that.

She couldn't help but feel a little bit of envy towards the girl. She believed that
Vulpine knew a whole lot about the world than she did and it made her wish that she knew
just as much. Although she was sad that she didn't know a lot, it only made things more
fun to discover and experience. Besides, she loved her home just fine and wouldn't trade
it for the world. "You're glad? About the ocean, I mean.."

Vulpine soon noticed she struck a slight nerve with the other. She swallowed through the tension in her neck and got slightly nervous. She didn't want the other mad at her. "Scientist say its due to the Earth plates pushing towards each other. One ends up being "stronger" than the other and push it down as the denser one pushes the other up. Making cliffs, really. Plateaus are usually made from erosion, or so I've heard. It's been a while since I've been in school." She had air quoted around the word stronger and started speaking softer than she started about half way through, hoping the other wouldn't argue with the knowledge she had and cause a dispute. "I think it's better off not knowing, though. Ignorance is bliss." She gave a soft smile as she turned to face the other instead of avoiding looking at head she had hen she explained. "Oh, yes!" The atmosphere around her changed from fear to excitement as she ran to the surface of the water, the waves pushing it right above her ankles. "I love the beach and the ocean. If I could off it, it's where I'd be." Vulpine laughed lightly and rubbed the back of her head, turning around to face Naida. "But I'm terrible at making fires and such, so I wouldn't be able to cook any meat."

Arapaima swam along, her webbed feet acting like human swim fins. She was streamlined, save for a thin layer of fat keeping her warm in times where water wasn't so...tropical. Her skirt (skorts?) trailed along, colorful blue and green on a grey background. She emerged, taking a deep breath of air. Sure, she did have gills on her sides and smaller ones on her neck, but she was amphibious, and she liked the taste.

Naida looked at Vulpine in awe as she explained the whole phenomenon of how cliffs
were made. Sure, she didn't understand almost half of the words that came out from the
girl's mouth, but she appreciated and was amazed at the fact that she knew so much
information about the world. "I love learning new things! I think it's wonderful how you
know all these." she said. Naida didn't notice the tension in the air at all, though she
was still a bit surprised when Vulpine suddenly made her way to the water. "Hmm.. What's..
School?" she wondered aloud, putting emphasis on the word 'school'. "And s..
Sci-an-teests?" she had trouble pronouncing the foreign word, biting her lip in

As she thought about what the unknown words could mean, she looked towards the ocean and
noticed something moving along the water. She momentarily took her attention off from the
words in order to find out what, or who it was. "Hmm.." she hummed, cocking her head to
the side.
