see this discussion to discuss the merits of a Wikipedia listing and for background:

this thread is intended to collaborate on the initial submission to
Wikipedia in the event that the project is a Go!

.....................first draft.......please feel free to comment, propose suggestions,
deletions, additions, clarifications, fix errors, etc......

Kupika.com is a free privately owned micro-social networking site or electronic community
of pen-pals created by Yohanes Aristianto, better known by his profile name of Hina, in
May 2006.

Hinas vision for the site was to create a pen-pal website where users could choose to
remain anonymous and interact and associate with others based upon the content of their
personal character and communication rather than such things as appearance, race,
ethnicity, social-status, and other such outer trappings. Some users choose to remain
anonymous, create fantasy-accounts to role-play or masquerade, while many users do reveal
personal information.

The users of Kupika.com are represented by a character that they create when they create
an account, however, the site currently doesnt incorporate any sort of 3-dimensional
character interaction such as other sites may have (e.g. Habbo Hotel, IMVU.com, etc.) so
these character representations are more nominal than utilitarian.

There is no age-verification for user accounts but the beginning minimum age available in
the system is 8 years old and extends to age 68. Users must opt to define their character
and profile account with a male or female gender, there is no unspecified gender option

Other features of Kupika include a Diary system, Clubs, Chat, a floating public message
board (Fleeting Thoughts), an IM-style message system (KupiChat), a Letter system,
PicStream, Virtual Items, Games, Oekakis and a Friends List.

Many users make use of the popular drawing program ShiPainter (version #) to draw Oekakis.
Most members customize their pages within the framework of the system which has Flash
enabled and allows outside linking. For ambiguous reasons, the website has developed a
heavily Anime/Manga-theme since its creation.

Currently, the website is unmoderated except by the creator, Hina, and has few
restrictions on the content of communication. For this reason, despite its sometime
friendly appearance, some material encountered on the website may be unsuitable for
children. To counter this problem and to allow users to personally restrict their
communication with unwanted individuals, the user is provided the ability to Blacklist
another user thus preventing any direct communication from that user, including preventing
that user from commenting on any diary or other publication. Users may also restrict their
communication to those designated on their Friends List only and require a password to
receive letters.

Initially, most new users were college age associates of the creator, but due to a number
of factors, including linking by certain websites, the current member population is
somewhat skewed to younger females. This may change as the website continues to grow in
membership and renown. Due to the possibility of an individual creating multiple accounts,
the exact number of active members is unknown. It is conservatively estimated that there
are over 5,000 active accounts or profiles that have been logged into by the owner within
the past year.

Yohanes Aristanto --> Yohanes Aristianto

We need sources; it says multiple times in the 'creating a new page' guide: "Gather
references to the source(s) of your information. Articles that do not cite reliable
published sources are likely to be deleted"
Huge & unnecessary signature gap is huge & unnecessary. :3

the directive to source your claims/facts if more directed towards articles on generally
known topics..

like if you were writing a new article on Genghis Khan for example....you would need to
put all your sources..

so far theres not really anything in the draft that requires "proof" of the
assertions..but we can submit as external links the site and some pages ...

an article on kupika that doesnt make a lot of fanciful claims like..its bigger than
myspace! or even qualitative assertions isnt too likely to be dismissed for that reason...

Q&A? Black hole as well. Perhaps mention the domain is hosted in Indonesia too. Lyncheh
and I were saying last night that it looks as if people think it's hosted in the U.S.

Hmm...................I think this can work. All we need is a Wiki-Account and then we
can arrange some details and a little adjustments.

I have a wiki-account but the "articles" I've posted were deleted.
And yes, I think we should mention that the forum of Kupika.com is Kupika.net

Eddie, thank you for writing the whole stuff!
I feel kinda honored because of that :p

I don't know what would arise from Kupika being included in Wikipedia.
Spam is definitely possible, and by "spam" I mean junk content/accounts that are generated
by bots. Some bots can bypass the CAPTCHAs. This could lead to Kupika being slower and

However, considering the +/-, I still think it is a nice idea.
Some things to be added:
KupiPoints, Q&A, Personal Ads, Pages, Virtual Items, ...

Kupika.net could be mentioned but Kiary should not, because it is not related to Kupika.

And for clarification, Kupika.com is hosted in Canada (currently).
Kupika.net is hosted in the US.

More details:
When you look at the WHOIS you will see "Indonesia" because that's my address... I live in
Indonesia; I am the owner of domain name "kupika.com" so when you lookup the WHOIS data
you will see my data. GoDaddy is the "registrar" of the domain, and I am the
This does not mean Kupika.com is hosted in Indonesia though.
Currently domain name kupika.com points to a web hosting company in Canada; so it means
Kupika.com is "hosted" in Canada.

But, then again, I don't think where Kupika is hosted should be included in the article...

Well if it isn't hosted in Indonesia then I don't see much point including it either :P
it's just annoying to some people (like Lyncheh and I) that people say things as if
everyone on the internet is from America, when even the webmaster at the website they're
using isn't. T_T

Hina needs to accept my new account!
