What do you think of Electronic Readers?

The idea that we could have an electronic book to carry around has been around a long time
and now the technology is getting better and more available.

There are pros n cons on both sides.

Sometimes, nothing beats having a paperbook in hand, one that i dont mind spilling coffee
on or forgetting behind somewhere.

But if an e-reader was awesome, functional, easy to use, etc. I could see having one.

BTW if you have an E-reader please discuss your experience so far. If you have thought of
getting one talk about what is factoring into your decision? Price, features, style, what
is important to you?

Right now Amazon's Kindle and Sony's product are big market leaders but a lot of new
models are out there and new ones coming on including this "ipod" looking one

Cool-er Reader

here is a site that has a few comparisons:

So what do you think? Would you consider getting one (if you had the money to spend of
course lol)

If you did what size would you like it to be?
Would you want it with a touch screen or not?
Would it be better if it could surf the web too or also play mp3s (duh of course it
Would you only download free books or would you pay for them too?

(btw there are a LOT of free books available now in .pdf format which if youre interested
you should look into downloading and reading off your laptop or compy)

No.. I wouldn't get one. It's a high price and I absolutely love the feel of having a
book in my hand/ The look of it on my shelve after enjoying it. I'd rather pay for a book
then getting it for free on it if getting it free was a choice. Seeing what someone wrote
typed out and printed is a much better feeling.. I've read things online and it just feels
weird. I don't know. I guess I feel like everything is so electronic (If that makes

Those are really my only reasons. If others enjoy it than that is good... but yeah... Not
for me. =

I wouldn't ever buy one. It's not like having a book at all. Like Michchief_Managed it
feels a lot better to have a real book in your hands, it just doesn't feel right at all. I
tried using my friend's one and reading off the internet and it just felt weird. It's not
a book if it's electronic. And you'd have to charge it and what not when you just put a
book on the shelf and take it off again
