I'm just curious how you guys build and decorate your home. It's always fun to share and
get creative ideas from others.

Well, I guess I will share how I do mine. I usually do the standard wooden plank house,
with glass windows. Though, I add wings to it, for crafting, sleeping, treasure vault,
etc. I like to make the floor out of colored wool, so it looks like a carpet. I always
make an aquarium wing, in the hope that a squid will randomly spawn in it and that could
be my new pet. My home is so flammable, no griefing. Also, I usually put it near a water
source, so that I can make a fishing dock and a farm. I make mushroom farms as well. I
love me some shrooms. :D

^ This, but with cobblestone, usually. Also, I build a tower and plant trees at the top,
so as to have personal wood supplies.

I look for a super duper large mountian then make a tree house with wood but with some
glass walls and some glass roofs and some glass designs here ND there then I make a giant
ladder down the moutian that leads to the ground of my paths. I make paths to the places
I'm curretly collecting stuff such as a ocean or my best mineing places (my house are
normally surrounded by forests so I don't have to make a path to a forest!x)). Surrounding
my paths are cobblestone that are lit up with torches so no monster can get in and I can
see and before the path leads in to one of my collecting places I make sure to put a door
so monsters can't get in and Yada Yada Yada. Oh I also make a sky bridge ( a bridge that
not on the ground ) made out of cobblestone or glass and light it with torches. This
bridge leads to my spawn point, other houses, and if I'm on a server with other people
their house as well.

On my first night, I just make a quick hill home and live in it until I get a bunch of
cobble, and then I make a furnace(I also make sure I have a lot of charcoal and/or coal)
and I put the coal in there so I can make smooth stone, and then I make stone brick to
make my houses..makes me feel like a king
and when the Decoratives mod was out, I used that to decorate my house with tinted glass
and rugs

i generally start on a beach of some sort near a large body of water... a cobblestone
staircase at least 8 blocks upward into the air above the water... then i make an
outlining, the first room is generally 10x10 and 5 high. the walls are cobblestone, the
floor and ceiling smooth stone (cobblestone in a furnace)

from then, i start expanding whichever way i feel like to create my floating castle in the

for decorations, i like to use lava and water... lateron, mossy cobblestone (from
dungeons), obsidian and netherrack... i am also quite a fan of smooth stone slabs for
certain objects like the incinerator/superforge (3 blocks deep, 3 blocks high, 5 blocks
wide. filled in with 2 puddles of lava) of which i should really make a screenshot and
post it somewhere. also, glowstone

lately, i've been less fussy about making a single castle as much as a floating skyway
comprised of seperate islands and buildings connected by walkways.
never dig straight down... thats how the creepers jump you

I usually, after making my shelter for the night, I want to make a house. Unfortunately,
my houses are relatively small and usually based off of a better design T_T - I haven't
been able to play too much lately, I'm going to make it a point to make a good house when
I play next.
