PLEASE READ, IMPORTANT INFO
The novel begins with Rose Hathaway, a half-human/half-vampire (Dhampir), and her best
friend Vasilisa "Lissa" Dragomir, a Moroi princess. They have been on the run for two
years from the authorities of the St. Vladimir's Academy where they both went to school.
Though the reason is not yet revealed, Rose implies that Lissa was in some kind of danger
while at St. Vladimir's, and as her unofficial guardian (a protector against the
Strigoi--the immortal and evil vampires keen to destroy the Moroi race and turn them into
one of their own kind) orchestrated their escape from the heavily guarded school and
whatever was haunting Lissa there. However, they are caught by a group of the schools
guardians led by Dimitri Belikov, and are sent back to the Academy in Montana.
Rose and Lissa's lives are complicated because they were in a car accident a few years
before which claimed the lives of Lissa's parents and brother, but left the girls unhurt
(it is later revealed that Rose died in the accident as well, and Lissa unknowingly healed
her). After the accident, the two girls developed a rare magical bond which allows Rose to
feel Lissa's emotions and sometimes see things through her. Lissa also finds herself
capable of healing things, the result of a rare spirit magic she possesses, which Rose and
a previous teacher with the same ability, Ms Karp, urged her to hide. Once back at the
Academy, Rose and Lissa adjust back to the school's work and complex social life. Rose
finds herself behind on her guardian education, and is put to take extra practices with
Dimitri, if she wants to become Lissa's other official Guardian after graduation. While
training with Dimitri, Rose finds herself increasingly attracted to him.
Lissa begins to receive threats that reminds her of the danger she felt before leaving
school. The frightening threats continue as Rose works hard to keep Lissa's fragile state
intact from the danger as well as gossip from classmates like Mia, and ones she perceives
as dangerous, such as Christian Ozera, whom Lissa strikes up a secret friendship with. On
the night of the school dance, Lissa is kidnapped by a group of guardians under orders
from her dying uncle, Prince Victor, who has been planning this since managing to discover
that she has healing abilities. He therefore has Lissa abducted from the school, and goes
as far as ensnaring Rose and Dimitri with a lust spell, in hopes that they will be too
distracted with each other for Rose to find Lissa through their bond. However, his plan is
foiled by Dimitri, who manages to break the spell while being with Rose, and they set off
to save Lissa. Lissa is forced to heal Victor, nearly killing herself from the strain of
the power. She is saved by Rose and the stow-away Christian, and Victor is apprehended.
While being held, he manages to get his Academy student daughter Natalie to turn into a
Strigoi, which is done by an evil deed--in her case, killing another Moroi. As a powerful
Strigoi, Natalie attempts to free her father and almost kills Rose, who is saved by
Dimitri, who then kills Natalie. The novel ends with Lissa working to keep her
spirit-magic ability under control, and Rose recovered and in love with Dimitri, who
insists they cannot have a relationship because they are Lissa's guardians.
FROSTBITE (Second novel)
The story begins with Rose and Dimitri traveling to meet the legendary guardian Arthur
Schoenberg for Rose's Qualifier Exam. Once they arrive at the home of the Moroi family he
protects, they discover a bloody massacre of the entire family and their guardians,
including Arthur by Strigoi. Rose also discovers a broken ward, a magical device which
Strigoi cannot touch, meaning the Strigoi must have had human assistance in their attack.
The massacre puts the vampire community on high alert, and to keep the students at St.
Vladimir's Academy safe, a ski trip to a lodge owned by a wealthy Moroi family is required
right after Christmas.
Rose is already on edge due to her conflicting feelings about the people around her.
Worried about the mental health of her best friend Lissa, she also becomes jealous when
she doesn't get to spend more time with her anymore now that she spends most of her time
with her boyfriend Christian. Things don't improve as her mother Janine Hathaway, whom she
hasn't seen in five years, shows up at school with the Moroi she is protecting, creating
tension between the two. Moreover, Rose's feelings for her mentor Dimitri have not
subsided, and she becomes heart-broken and envious when he appears to show interest in
Christian's aunt, Tasha, who has asked Dimitri to be her guardian.
During the ski trip, panic sets in when news of another Strigoi attack on a royal Moroi
family spreads, where one of the dead was Mia's mother. During her stay at the lodge, Rose
meets a Moroi named Adrian Ivashkov, who shows obvious interest in Rose, and later becomes
friendly with Lissa after they both discover they are spirit users. During a Adrian's pool
party, Mason, his friend Eddie, and Mia begin voicing their opinions about hunting
Strigoi. After a heated argument with Dimitri, Rose tells Mason confidential information
that Dimitri had given her before about the possible whereabouts of the Strigoi's
hideouts. Using Rose's information, Mia, Mason, and Eddie sneak out of the ski lodge and
travel to Spokane, Washington, to hunt down the Strigoi themselves. Rose discovers their
plan and together with Christian, run out to stop them.
Rose and Christian find the group and convince them to return to the lodge. However, they
are ambushed by Strigoi, who hold them captive for days, threatening to kill them. Rose
eventually comes up with a plan to escape, and they all manage to get out of the house
into the protection of the light, except Rose, who is left fighting two Strigoi. Mason is
killed when he returns and attempts to help Rose. Rose then kill both of the Strigoi by
beheading them, and then collapses into shock, as Guardians arrive after being informed of
where the students were. Once back at St. Vladimir's, Rose receives two molnija marks for
her Strigoi kills. Dimitri also tells her that he turned down Tasha's offer to become her
guardian, admitting that his heart is with Rose.
If you want to make up a character please use this form:
Name: (First and last)
Age: (over 14)
Race: (Dhampir, Moroi, Strigoi)
Characters: I have used my image of the characters
Rose Hathaway: Me~ (Yoshiko_Saruwatari)
The protogonist, a strong and loudly-spoken girl. Rose is shadow-kissed, meaning she has
died and come back to life(This was done By Lissa, thus forming their bond). The bond
between Lissa and Rose is one way, Rose can sense how Lissa is feeling, as Lissa cannot.
When Lissa is feeling hateful or angry or scared, Rose will be inside Lissa's mind (In
frostbite, it seems she went into her mind when Lissa was very happy). In the first book,
she falls in love with her fellow guardian and mentor, Dimitri. In the first book, it
seems Dimitri doesn't care much for Rose until Lissa's uncle casts a Lust spell on the
two. (Which actually made the two forget about anything else but each other.) In the
second book, Dimitri seems to like Christian's Aunt, until the end of the book he
confesses his heart belongs to rose.
Vasilisa "Lissa" Dragomir
A soft spoken girl. She sometimes acts shy, but can stand up for herself if she wants
to. Lissa has the power to bring Humans and animals back to life. In the second
book,(Starts in the first) Lissa falls in love with Christian, another Moroi. Lissa is
learning to comunicate with Rose in her dreams.
