A cafe near the high school. It is hiring.

Vincenzo loved coffee, though perhaps loved was an understatement. The young man
practically thrived on coffee. The coffee here wasn't as good as back in Italy, but
he didn't expect it to be. Still, it was better then most of the watered down 'coffee'
they served most places (especially at the college). He was settled in a corner of the
cafe in one of the comfiest chairs with his favorite well worn-copy of A Midsummer
Night's Dream. It was a rather dorky thing to read for fun by choice, but then again,
the Italian didn't mind. He was just into act two when he heard someone approaching and
looked up, smiling at the person who was there. Outside of classes which had only
recently started, he hadn't gone to meet many people, a very disappointing fact to him, as
he usually thrived on people. People and coffee seemed to be two of his favorite things,
"Ciao! If you'd like you can sit there, it's not taken. I don't think so. I mean, I'm the
only one in here and it doesn't say it's reserved, so feel free to sit down." He said
happily, voice loud and happy and attitude friendly and warm. "I'm Vincenzo." He
introduced, offering a hand.

Jonathan walked over to Vincenzo. "Hey man! What's up!" He said. It was his first day
here. His task today was to make friends. He wasn't that great at doing it often, but he
gave it a shot. He put his hand out for the boy to shake. He looked at the guy he had just
met. He looked familiar. "I think we go to the same college." He added.

(ooc: feel free to add a page about the college if you'd like. I don't really know
how you imagine it, so go ahead.)

Vincenzo took his hand, giving it a firm shake, "Probably! I just got here so I don't
know many people. I mean, I'm trying to get to know the people in my classes but it's so
hard and very many of them laugh at me." He said, with a bit of a pout, "What's your
name?" He asked, a bit curious as to who this new person was. He took a sip of his coffee,
smiling a bit. It wasn't as good as at home, but it was still caffeine.

Jonathan smiled. "Jonathan Long. Captain of the college football team!" He said. He was
very excited today. Not only did he just meet his first possible friend, but he also had
his first day of football practice. He was comfortable around Vincenzo, no something that
happens when he first meets a person.

"American football?" He asked, giving a confused look. "You call football soccer here,
right?" Vincenzo confirmed with a nod to himself, "I think I've heard of you. American
football isn't a sport I'm good at. I tried it once, and I got trampled." He said with a
laugh. "I much prefer footb--err soccer." He said, "Back home it was really popular so I
played it with my cousins and brothers a lot." He explained, "Do you have brothers or
sisters?" He asked, curiously, blinking at him.

Jonathan laughed a bit. "Yes, American football. I'm not good at soccer. I end up getting
bruised shins." He said, rubbing his shins. He had played soccer with his brother last
weekend. "Football isn't all that hard. It's challenging, I know that." He said, rubbing
his head. He nodded. "And yes, I have a brother and two sisters. I'm the oldest." He said
proudly with a courageous smile.

"That's cool...I'm the middle child. I have 2 brothers and a lot of cousins. When
they all came to Grandfather's for Christmas, there was about 25 or 30 of just us kids! I
have 4 uncles and 2 aunts, not to mention they're all married, so I have a huge family."
He explained. "Is it fun to be the oldest? I'm technically the oldest because my little
brother is living with me here and our oldest brother is back home. It's a lot of
work."

Lavender walked into the coffee shop, a well-worn book in hand and the full
intention of making a friend, or possibly even finding a lover.

She ordered a regular no-frills coffee, black, and sat near the two boys inhabiting the
shop. Maybe they were gay. Who knows? The girl, clad in dark shades and donning a
slytherin scarf, started reading. It was The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, one of her
favorite comic relief Sci-Fi novels.

Jonathan nodded. "It's very fun. More responsibilities, but still fun." He said. He then
turned his head to see Lavender. "Hello! Welcome to the Coffee House!" He said. He hated
working here only because it didn't pay a lot. He adjusted his apron and walked towards
her, his hand out so she could shake it. Well, if she was open enough to shake it. He
looked at her and sized her up. He had a very joyful smile on his face, excited that
residents were actually here. He couldn't wait to make more friends.

Lavender gingerly took the man's hand and gave it a firm shake before going back
to her book. It was a first edition: Old, yellowing, the pages smelling roughly of vanilla
and her aunt Hyacinth's perfume. She herself had taken it from their library.
