Taking a drag of my Marlboro Red,
I watch the sunset as the sky turns purple and orange.
The moon is too eager to wait, showing itself on the eastern horizon.
Together we watch as it turns to night.

Crickets, locusts, and bullfrogs sing their song,
A nightly routine of orchestrated noises.
The sky is now clear, revealing the stars and faraway galaxies.
The air smells like fresh droplets of Spring.

Serenity seeps into my pores,
And the breeze buries itself into my lungs.
Nothing can describe the beauty of darkness,
I embrace this moment and lay my body in the grass.

Unaware of Earth's rotation,
I imagine everything is still.
Reminiscing on forgotten memories,
I remember the nights of being a child.

I begin to cry,
The earth begins to cry with me,
Releasing dew that touches my hands.
Everything in this moment is beautiful.
