I wondered through the city streets hopelessly. I looked to and fro, but I couldn't
find a gun store anywhere. I didn't even have my fiver left because I dropped it on
the counter when I ran screaming out of the burger place. I sighed. Where was I going
to go? I couldn't go home, Mrs Honeyberry or the creature would find me. I decided to
go into the info kiosk and ask for a map. But they were all shut. The moon loomed
above me, making me visible wherever I turned. The stars twinkled, but wherever I
looked they spelled D E A T H.
I walked into a shop and saw guns on the wall. I went over to the counter and said,
"There's a puddle in the ladies' toilets." (But of course there wasn't.)
"You've only just come in here," said the shop worker. "How can you know?"
"My friend told me," I stammered quickly.
"The store has been empty for two hours now. And the toilet attendant has checked it
before then. Stop being clever with me, Miss."
I sighed. I had no choice. I told him where I lived. The shop worker screamed and
climbed over the counter. He shouted, "Don't touch me!" and ran out of the shop. I
climbed over the counter and unhooked a gun from the wall. I checked behind me to
make sure no one was watching and put a couple of bullets into my pocket. I couldn't
believe what I was doing. Terrified, I ran back to the woods, ignoring the screaming
Mrs Honeyberry was waiting there, her eyes glowing green. I handed her the gun and
shrunk to my knees.
"Here, please don't kill me, and please, take the curse away!"
"I can't do that Gemini." Her voice was very deep now. Exactly like the creature's.
"We have all been possessed. I am sorry, Gemini..." Suddenly she jumped onto a nearby
log. Then I suddenly got it. Gradually, the creature possessed them and everytime
they got a bit more like him they returned to their normal selves for a few seconds.
Mrs Honeyberry's time was now over. She was exactly like the creature, except in her
appearance. I tried to run, but she caught me by the neck and pulled me back.
"Gemini! Don't! We will reign over the whole world!"
"Please, let me go! What is the name of your powerful kind?" (I decided flattering
words may help to ease their anger.)
"You heard me, The Kyrox. We are the most terrible monsters any child could think
"What about adults?"
"Adults don't have any imagination. It's children we need. The children created us."
"You? Gemini, you are the KEY. Without you, we wouldn't exist."
That was it! I slowly pulled the gun away from Mrs Honeyberry. I put it to my neck
and slowly pulled the trigger...
