Crappy little poem I wrote:
Floating across a lake on your back, the day is fine,
But the colors are just a little off.
The sky darkens,
The water goes dark.
You are sucked under
Try and claw your way to the surface; there is no escape.
The water shows no remorse,
Just lack of oxygen and a gleaming surface.
Your body begins to tremble,
You reach out to grab something, anything to hold onto, to drag you back up to air.
This time, you’re lucky, someone’s there to save you,
To grab your flailing arm, to pull you into them
You break surface, break the dream
you gulp in the air
Gulp in the reality
Clutched trembling in his arms.
And the dream slips from you like water cupped in two hands.
