Here's the very beginning:
The thunder howled furiously, sending chills down Cassidy Hall’s spine.
Gathering her baby sister, Natalie, in her arms, the young teen rushed downstairs.
“Mom! Come on, we gotta hurry up! The storm’s coming!” She yelled as she
crossed over to the back door. The rain was pounding the cement, making the
pitter-patter sounds of hundreds of children running across at once. A small and
dainty woman came forward from the family room, giving her daughter a brave smile.
“It’ll be all right dear! We have another few moments.” Cassidy’s mom
pushed past her daughter and opened the back door, the wind howling louder than
before. Cutting across the wet grass, Cassidy and her mom hurried to the small storm
shelter on the other side of their backyard. Smoothing back her graying hair, the mom
forcefully opened the shelter’s doors and started to climb in.
Cassidy shook her head. “Mother, wait! I forgot something in the house.”
Handing her mom Natalie, the teen raced back inside, and up to her bedroom. I hope I
can find it. She thought as she quickly looked around. Then the metal box caught her
eye. “It’s in here!” She muttered to herself. Grabbing the box, she ran back
outside. When Cassidy came across the shelter, and was about to climb in, the girl
suddenly got struck by lightning and tumbled into the darkness below.
She heard her mother calling her name, growing fainter and fainter until there
was nothing but silence.
I'd tell you what the story is about but that'll ruin it Haha!
