Mana was exausted from what happened that day. She went to her room and
collapsed on her bed. The sun had set an hour ago, and Mana really wanted sleep. She
was laying in bed for about five minutes...
Mana's heart jumped into her throat. Despite her weariness, she got up and rushed
into the hall. She could see a figure leaving the house. It was too dark to see who.
Mana ran in persuit, despite her lack of shoes. The figure ran behind the hut, and
started into the forest. In this black, if she lost sight of who she was chasing, she
probably wouldn't see them again. Mana ran with what energy she had left, and she
soon caught up close enough to do a jumping tackle. Mana brought them to the ground,
and did what Takuya did with Ato, and held all her body force on them. Mana was
shocked to see that the figure was Mikan.
She was different however, as two feathered wings were attached to her back. Mana got
off of Mikan, startled. Mikan got up, wincing with pain. When she got upright ,she
help her bad foor up, and fluddered her wings to keep her balance.
"Mikan? What happened to you?"
Mikan looked away, not answering at first.
"The truth is, I really come from the skies,an angel as you would call it."
Mana was a bit startled, but quickly hid it.
"Well, what do you call angels?"
"Our race has it's very own language, and we call ourselves Péyané."
Mana liked the sound of the word Péyané.
"Well, what are you doing here, if you belong in the sky?"
"That's a long story, and I really don't want to talk about it." Mikan looked down at
"Mana, please don't tell the other's I'm a Péyané, please!"
"I won't. Why did you run from me?"
"I didn't know who you were in the dark. I was just playing safe." Mikan hovered back
to Etsuya's hut, Mana right behind her.
"I'm sure you're tired. I'm sorry I made you get up to chase me, Chosenplayer." Mikan
said quietly. Spirit was right. She was getting a lot more respect. Mana walked back
into her bed and quickly fell asleep.
Mana woke with a start, resulting her falling out of her bed. She looked to see Fishi
hovering above her.
"I'm sorry. I didn't realise you were such a light sleeper. Get ready. You have more
Mana didn't feel very good about learning more magic, or at least thid early in the
morning. As Fishi was leaving, he said one last thing.
"Oh, Brig the sprite with you today, will you?"
Why? Mana didn't question him, but she was still curious.
This was definatly not what she had in mind for her summer. She was expecting to wake
up at 9:00 and watch her favorite anime, instead she has to wake up at the crack of
dawn, then having to do trainging to fight an evil power-hungry warloc!
Mana was soon ready, and about to leave. She really didn't want to leave without
breakfast, so she ate quickly. She noticed Mikan was acting like nothing happened
last night, And she was doing a good job of it too. Her wings had vanished from her
back. Mana wasn't sure how, but they had.
When Mana finished breakfast, she got Spirit and ran to meet Fishi out at the
When she got there, Fishi was already warming up with magic. He quickly noticed her.
"You were quick. That's good. You'll need the speed. Now, the reason I had you bring
Spirit with you today, is because I'm worried about your privacy. Rumours have gone
around Giaga saying Shikuro has returned."
'"What?!"' Both Mana and Spirit said in unison.
"Hold on, I didn't say they were true. I thought it might be better for you to learn
in the sprite language, just until your training is finished."
Mana and Spirit were still shooken, but they nodded in agreement.
"I want you to perform the spell you learned yesterday, only this time, cast it in
the Sprite language." Mana glanced at Spirit, who was seated on her shoulder. It felt
kinda aquward last time...
"You don't have to say the spell loudly." Fishi said, picking up her thoughts.
"Just a whisper would do. Just as long as you say it. Just thinking the spell is very
Mana gained a bit of confidence, not having it be so loud. She repeated the spell,
making sure only Spirit could understand it. Sure enough, a ball of water came out of
the brooke, and hovered in front of her face.
She still couldn't believe she was using magic, a force only used in the books she
read and the shows she watched! It seemed so...unreal, almost like a dream. But it
Spirit was amazed at the feat. Mana smiled at her and let the water go back into the
brooke. Fishi gave her a satisfied look.
Over the next hours, Fishi continued to teach Mana magic, giving her simple spells
and giving her situations to use them in. One of the spells she learned was a spell
to block her mind from intruders. It wasn't very strong, but it would grow with time
as Mana grew stronger as well. All this was new to Mana, and she was really eager to
Mana's exitement had diminished when Fishi dismissed her mid-afternoon. She was
exausted. Magic was more energy consuming then she thought. She slowly made her way
back into the hut and collapsed on her bed. Spirit slid off her shoulder and made her
way back to the rest of the house. Mana lay motionless on her bed for about ten
minutes before she found the strength to get up again. She was going to head outside
again, when a blur of blue zoomed past her cheek. She hurrily swung her head to see
what it was. She saw a fairy, with blue hair and wings, and a brown tunic. The fairy
was as big as Spirit. Spirit was climbing onto a table, not more then a foot from the
fairy. When Spirit saw her, she grinned from ear to ear.
"Chinatsu! How've you been?"
"Spirit! Well, it's been rather boring, until Arisa heard that the Chosenplayer has
arrived in Giaga. Boy, she almost had a spasm!" The fairy replied playfully. Mana
could hear something behind her outside.
Mana couldn't see anything when she glanced outside.
The two sprites continued to chat as Mana continued to look outside for the noise.
Taheiji soon came into view, flapping his wings for a safe landing. Eichiro was on
his back. They had just returned from another flight, no doubt. Eichiro soon saw Mana
in the doorway. Mana smiled back at him, and Eichiro jumped off of Taheiji's back to
talk to her. When he reached her, she soon noticed the fairy introduced as Chinatsu.
She looked just as surpised as Eichiro.
"Your Majesty?! You're alive?? Holy mother of magic!..."
Eichiro seemed a bit offended.
"Chinatsu, what are you doing here? Have a message from the king?"
"Uh...The king is...dead."
Eichiro's face showed pure shock.
"Then, the princess,Arisa, is ruling now?"
"Queen Arisa, and yes, she is. She heard that the Chosenplayer has come into Giaga,
and she wanted me to check it out. Is he here?"
Mana was a bit offended Chinatsu called her a he.
"Actually, She is right here." Eichiro jestered to Mana. Chinatus was
suprised, but quickly hid it.
"Well, Queen Arisa has asked for me to bring you to her, so she can meet you. Your
Majesty, you should come too. I'm sure the queen would be glad to see you."
"All right. come on, Mana. We'rll ride Taheiji."
Mana nodded in agreement and followed Eichiro onto the back of his tiger-dragon. What
did the elf queen want to talk to her about?
