Sometimes you forget,
When life takes you down,
When you’re wet,
And you’re about to drown.

You can’t remember what it felt like,
To be your very own,
And you don’t want to hike,
That very mountain where you moan.

You try not to cry.
You try not to pout.
But it’s hard not to when you’re living a lie,
And there’s no way out.

But still that lie is there.
And you feel so alone,
Because that lie won’t tear,
And it has grown.

Fear still lies in you,
Where you wish it wouldn’t be.
And you still don’t have a clue,
At what you should see.

When you look in a mirror,
Your eyes fill with shame.
But when you see that reflection a little clearer,
You don’t look the same.

You see a new human being.
And you can see yourself in light.
You know who you are seeing,
Because you don’t see a fight.
