I always looked up at the stars at night and wondered if my true love was staring at
the same sky. I spent my whole life wondering who this girl was. And yet, I've never
found her. And as I sat on the beach, the castle to my back, I watched the sun dip
down behind the neverending sea. And once the stars were up high in the sky for
everybody to admire them, I stood up and set towards the castle. I tiptoed down the
hall, and peeked into my little sister's room. She was sleeping peacfully in her
little bed uncle had made just for her. I gently shut the door and crept down the
hall to my room. There was a letter sitting on the bed. I picked it up and unfolded
it. It read:
Noble Prince Nick of Torothia!
You have been invited by request of Princess Leona of Bortholia to the yearly
ball taking place in the palace of Bortholia. I wish for you to come, as does
Princess Leona most of all. We wish for you to wear formal clothing, and if possible,
your family is welcome here. We send faith and good wishes on you, your family, and
Garth, the head servant of Bortholia
This letter took me by surprise. Why had Princess Leona wanted me to come so bad? And
every kingdom over all the land knew that I couldn't dance. With these thoughts still
in my head, I went to bed. I dreamed of Leona. I don't know why. I've done it before,
but we've only met three times. Maybe me and Leona were supposed to be together. I
fell into a deep sleep, and when I woke, the sun shined through the windows. I
squinted, dressed, and headed down to the kitchen. I had the letter clitched in my
hand, and I slowly approached uncle and handed the letter to him.
"What's this?" He asked.
"A letter from Bortholia." I replied.
"Okay. What do they want?" he unfolded the letter and read. He nodded a few times,
and said, "Okay we can go. It seems to me that Princess Leona has quite a thing for
you, Nick." I blushed and stared at my feet. My sister came up to me from behind and
tugged at the bottom of my shirt with her tiny hand.
"Nicky, what's so interesting about your feet? You're staring at them quite alot."
She said. Uncle and I laughed.
"He's embarrassed, Lily." Uncle said.
"Oh. Okay. Nicky, can you forget that and give me a piggy ride?" she gave me her
innocent look. I couldn't resist that look, so I lifted her into my arms, as she
climbed all over me until she finally held on to my back. I ran around the kitchen
with her squealing like crazy. I set her down and started on my breakfast. It was a
long way to Bortholia, So I would start towarts there on Snowfire, my albino dragon,
and I'd get there early.
"I'm going to go get snowfire ready," I said. "You can meet me at the ball."
"Okay Nick. Be careful." Uncle said.
"I will, don't worry." I gave my Lily and Uncle A hug and I ran towards Were
Snowfire, Saphira, Sonno, and Ivoryio were kept. I saddled Snowfire and led her out
of the trees. I sat in the saddle and gave her a gentle squeeze. We were off in an
instant. The tiny world passed by underneath us. After a while of traveling, we saw
our destination beneath us, and I told Snowfire to land. Hey giant feet landed
soundlessly on the ground. We were welcomed by Garth and led to the dragonfield. I
unsaddled Snowfire and set her out. When I entered the castle, Princess Leona was
clearly waiting for me. She ran up and hugged me, and I hugged her back.
"I knew you'd come! My little brother Gorto kept saying you wouldn't!" She said.
"Well, here I am. My sister always liked your brother. can I see the ballroom?" I
smiled as her eyes lit up. She took my hand and lead me to a giant room made of solid
marble. People had already started arriving. four pairs were already dancing. We
walked out of the ballroom and we saw Lily and uncle coming in to the palace. Gorto
ran up to Lily, kissed her cheek, took her hand, and led her somewere else. Every in
the room saw it, and all were smiling at the sight. When everybody had arrived, the
music was playing smoothly, and the room was filled with dancing couples, including
Lily and Garth, and They were surprisingly good dancers. And in the middle of the
ball, Leona came up to me.
"Would you like to dance?" She asked.
"Leona, come on. You know I can't dance." I said.
"I'll teach you." She said, taking my hand. She lead me to the middle of the room.
She grabbed my left hand and placed it on her waist and took my right hand. We
stepped around the room, And I eventually go tthe hang of it. In the middle of the
second to last song, I grabed her and kissed her. She took it by surprise, and she
jumped when I did it. I pulled away from her and stared at my feet.
"Sorry. I should go..." I said.
"No, I'm sorry. Don't go." She looked into my eyes and she kissed me again. At that,
I smiled, took her waist, and stepped around freely to the music. And kissing each
other here and there of course.
