With nothing guiding me but the moonlight, I quickly ran my fingers along the window
pane, feeling for the rusty lock. Finding it quicker than I thought I would, I
hesitated a moment before flipping it up and pushing the window open. A gust of cold
air shot through it, making me shiver slightly. I felt a tap on the small of my back,
and I hoisted myself through the window. I glanced up at the starry sky for a moment
before turning to help her through the window.
And there we were. Alone. On the rooftop. With all the time we wanted at our
fingertips, the world was ours. I laid back on the roof, holding my hand out to her.
LeAnne(Anne for short), my live-in girlfriend, took my hand without hesitation and
slid into position beside me. We sat there for a while, not saying anything, just
staring at the sky, our hands locked together.
She broke the silence first. "What do you think is up there?"
I turned my head to look at her, noticing how the moonlight reflected off of her
gray eyes. I paused before answering. "Nothing."
"Nothing?" Anne asked.
I turned my gaze back to the sky. "Nothing."
It was quiet for a moment. "I think there's something up there." she said finally.
Anne was silent again, choosing her words. "I think everything is up there.
Memories, hopes, wishes, everything. Just waiting."
"Waiting for what?" I asked.
"Us." she said simply.
I didn't reply to that. Anne had a different outlook on life than others, and that
worked for her. I had learned not to question that long ago. I instead squeezed her
hand a little, and she instinctively turned to face me. Sensing her gaze, I looked
over at her.
"I love you." she whispered.
"Forever and ever, babe." I murmured before propping myself up on elbows and
leaning in to kiss her.
sorry it's so short. I'm way tootired to be writing. there'll be more.
