My opinion about SUNSHINE. Sci-Fi drama.
British made movie, Sunshine, takes place 50yrs into the future.
The sun is cooling...dying. There is a plan to drop an atomic bomb into the sun to
re-start it. The movie begins as Icarus 2 is nearing Mercury with it's bomb. A
series of mistakes occures and that's the start of a very bad day for the crew.
This isn't a 'detailed' review of the movie.
This is a wonderful story. The two most memorable movement in the movie are: 1,
Captain Kaneda (Yes, he's Japanese. A non American as the captain of a ship....wow,
only the British has enough style to do this! XD), in a gold plated solar space
suit, faces the sun. 2, The very end of the movie, where the physicist (the only one
who can activate the bomb) was able to 'touch god'.
The pacing is NOT Terminator nor Aliens. There are NO shooting, kung fu, dodging
bullets, out running a fireball. There are several fights, yes. There is a struggle
against someone who became "one with God".
The science: Why is the sun dying? They consulted a British physicist on this one.
He managed to dig up a paper on a theoretical matter (sub atomic particle), if it
falls into a star, it could stop the star. The bomb would be use to dislodge this
particle from the star.
I just got the soundtrack of this movie. My favorite parts of the movie, Captain
Kaneda's scene, the music for his scene is entitled "WHAT DO YOU SEE?". It's the
line the psychologist kept repeating to Capt Kaneda as the Captain looks at the sun.
Personally, I think this movie is emotionally moving as Bladerunner, 2001, 2010;
however, it is very different. I think I feel in love with this movie.
Anyone else seen this movie?
