Friday, 5 January 2007 05:57:13 PM (GMT) As Kara slowed down at the big, deserted mansion, she regretted what she was about
to do. Kara was dared to go to the old, haunted mansion, two blocks away from her
house, and stay there overnight. She was scared, but she didn’t show it, because
her friends Melina, Shirley, Serena, and Chloe were following right behind her. The
house was made in 1874, but it was never seen with any people inside. The grass in
the front was tall and yellow, and there was a dirt path leading to the crooked
wooden door. There were two dusty windows and one of them was broken. There was a
rusty, brown chain holding the side yard door together, and there was a spooky, dead
tree in the front yard. Most people would not dare to come anywhere near this house,
although Kara was about to stay overnight. It was getting dark and so she parked her
bike, then grabbed the brown paper bag with her dinner in it and said bye to her
friends. Then she walked along the dirt path to the door and pushed it open. She
walked inside and at every step the wooden floor creaked. She sat down at an old,
brown couch and opened up her paper bag. She had a turkey cheese sandwich, a bag of
goldfish, and a water bottle filled with lemonade. Suddenly she heard footsteps
coming from upstairs. She saw a big, dark shadow at the top of the stairs. |
