I was at the open house for the high school I'm probably going to last Sunday. At
one table there were some people from the Writing Club. They girls said that every
year they print a magazine with the stories, poems, songs, and sometimes art and
photography in it. I LOVE writing so of course I took one. Later as I was looking
thought it I noticed something very peculiar.
Ok, these are high school kids, right?
I'm sure not all of them are freshman.
And that they've all taken Language Arts classes.
So they know about grammar.
How to use it, ya know?
YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE HOW MANY TYPOS ARE IN THIS MAGAZINE. OMIGOD.
I'm talking about...punctuation and spelling...and one of the stories made absolutely
no sense. No, I didn't just read it wrong. Trust me: This girl had a dream, wakes up,
is late for school, goes to her classroom, describes the classroom, according to the
story not including her there's only 2 other people in the room, they all start
talking, suddenly this other guy comes in out of NO WHERE, (the teacher?) then
it...ends...and apparently the kids were...training? I DON'T KNOW! I'm sure the
editor was a student but, seriously, doesn't the teacher look over it before they
print everything for the whole school and beyond to read?! Sheesh! I can't believe I
have better writing skills than HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS!!!
