Well. There's a swimmer who made it to the Olympics. His name is Kevin Doak. He has
a website (www.kevindoak.com). He came to my school on Wednsday, and talked to the
sixth grade AVID classes.
When he decided to make it to the Olympics in 2006, it was because his friend had
died. At his funereal, the preacher recited a quote. It was,
"A dream is a dream, until you decide to do something about it."
I took it to heart, and wrote it down. I don't know who it's by, but it's so true. If
only you believe, if only you work towards something, than can you achieve it. Which
reminds me of something Kevin Doak said.
"It is possible, I don't care what it is." - Kevin Doak
It is possible, if only you believe it. I think those two quotes are as true as can
I never lost interest. I actually found a funny quote! Well, it's not funny, exactly,
just made me grin.
"Work hard, and listen to your coach. Coach knows best. Always listen to your coach."
- Kevin Doak
Sports players out there probably find this true, but I only swim, and I find the
tips they give me helpful, but I haven't experienced this firsthand. But that's not
what I'm talking about.
Speaking of swimming, I love to swim. And so does Kevin Doak! He told us he doesn't
swim for the money; swimmers don't get very much money at all! So here's his two
swimming quotes I wrote down.
"I want to swim with the best swimmers in the world." - Kevin Doak
"I do it because I love it, and it's a blast." - Kevin Doak.
I do swimming because I love to do it, too. ^^ I think it's just the most fun thing
ever. So. Yeah. I wonder what my goal is (other than going to college and becoming a
vet or a marine bioligist)?
Speaking of goals, Kevin Doak has some encouraging words for all of us who have
strong goals. They're gonna be hard, they're gonna take work, but as I mentioned
earlier, Kevin Doak mentioned things being posssible. And here's his next quote.
"I set a goal, did what it took to achieve it, and the same can be applied to any of
you." - Kevin Doak
Just wow. He's a really positive person. ^^
Positive = confident = happy. So, evidently, he's a really happy person. And here's
my final accumulated quote.
"I don't need a big house, I just need to be happy." - Kevin Doak
It's like that for all of us.
So I've finished up my first entry. I'm going to use this as a blog, so if you want
to keep posted with me, just keep checking in!
