The multimedia class is held in a computer lab, with each person at their own
computer. Of course, Nathan and I still sat next to each other. Throughout class we
couldn’t stop smiling. About halfway through class, he reached over and grabbed my
hand. We just stayed like that, holding hands for the rest of class. When class was
over, he walked me to the drill team locker room. He usually did this every day
because it was on the way to the front door, but usually he would leave when I went
inside. Today though, he waited until I was done. It kind of surprised me, that he
waited, because he never had before, but I was glad he did. “Ready to go?” he
asked. I nodded and we walked out of the school. I don’t know why I ever thought
that I shouldn’t go out with him, he was so sweet. We live a couple blocks away
from each other, so I gave him a ride home. It was just like normal, us talking and
laughing, and I was happy. I didn’t want things to be awkward just because we were
going out. When we got to his house, we got out of the car and I gave him a hug. It
felt so great to just stand there with his arms around me. “I’ll see you
tomorrow” he whispered into my ear. I stood there for a minute longer before going
back inside the car. When I got home, I got on the computer to write an essay for my
English exam, and I was almost done when a message popped up. It was from Nathan:
Nathan: Do you want to go to the movies with me, Jason and Katie tomorrow after
Jason was Nathan’s best friend, and Katie was Jason’s girlfriend. Quickly I typed
back a response:
Me: Of course, I’ll meet you in the cafeteria after school. =]
Nathan: great, see you then!
The next day at school was just like any other, except for multimedia. Nathan held my
hand again and I couldn’t help but smile. I liked him so much! After school, all
four of us met in the cafeteria. Because I’m the only sophomore out of that group,
I’m the only one with a license, so I drove us to the movies.
“So what do y’all want to see?” Jason asked.
Katie answered, “hm…how about happy feet?”
“Katie, you’ve seen that twice already.”
“Yeah I know, but I just love the little penguins!”
Jason didn’t want Katie to be unhappy, so we got tickets to Happy Feet. =]
At the snack bar, we got popcorn, sodas, and candy [[Reese’s pieces!!]] and then we
walked into the theatre to find seats. We were about 15 minutes early, so finding
seats was easy. We sat in the middle of the back row, the best seats in the whole
theatre. I sat between Nathan and Katie, and Jason was on the other side of Katie. We
talked and laughed and were having a lot of fun, then the previews started. The
lights started to get dim and Nathan put his arm around me. Just then, a group of
kids walked in and sat down a couple rows in front of us. “Just what we need,”
Jason whispered. “A bunch of rowdy kids to ruin the movie.” But it wasn’t the
kids that I was worried about. Behind them were their chaperones, I guess that’s
what they were, and one of them happened to be one of my best friends, Michelle.
Normally I’d be happy to see her, but I hadn’t told her about me and Nathan yet.
She just kind of stared at me for a minute, like she was confused, and then she
turned back around and sat down. I knew that she now knew that we were going out, but
she was still confused and probably mad at me for not telling her.
