The snow seemed to just pound down upon the poor girl. A mass of straight, ebony
locks flew over Kumiko's face, blinding her. It was evident that she would
ungracefully stumble backwards and fall to the ground in a confused heap of frilly
satin, snow, ice and an oddly-shaped coat. And who was standing over her, laughing
hysterically, but the same Alex who was now offering her his hand? Face burning, she
pulled herself up, and stormed off, but Alex grabbed her arm while she had her back
turned. "Sorry, but you'd have laughed if that was me in your place." Kumiko turned
to face the blond boy, and with a shock, he noticed that tears were running wildly
down her pretty face. Guilt washed over Alex, and he looked down in the ground in
shame, unable to face the daughter of the Japanese diplomat whom he had just caused
tocry. "S-sorry. I mean it." He muttered awkwardly.
The feeling of something growing between them hung tensely in the frigid air, and the
two looked upon one another, beginning to understand. My school is overrun by
idiots, some so incredibly stupid that it is contagious. At least, that's what
Kumiko thought. As for Alex, not even himself could quite put his finger upon what he
was thinking, or feeling. "I-it's okay, Alex-u." He smiled, beginning to grow fond of
the way she pronounced his name. A slender arm wrapped around Kumiko's shaky
shoulders, causing a warmer blush to crawl up her pallid skin. However unlike the
previous flushing, this was a pleasant blush, one that resulted from kindness. More
tears spilt down her face. What the hell is wrong with me? Why can't I stop
crying? An irritated voice boomed in her head, but a gentler, yet louder and
firmer one cut off the critical voice. Hush, foolish child. Do not spoil the
moment; it is the kindest genuine gesture I have had from someone since I arrived.
Now shut up, and allow me to pretend for a moment that someone in the world likes
