"Hows the food?" Cara asked.
I smiled, alittle on the fake side of a smile, but i smiled. "Its great" I answered.
It wasn't horrible, just not GOOD.
"Great" Mike smiled putting more on his plate.
"May i be excused? I still need to unpack more..." I slid out the chair and out the
door before someone said anything, well if they did I didn't hear them. My room was
close to perfect, the desk did fit my lamp and laptop. The bed isn't too comfortable,
but just a few nights of sleep in it will get it softer.
"Mirabelle! Please come down here, there one person we'd like you to meet." Mike
yelled, up the spiral stairs.
"Hold on!" I responded, maybe alittle to loud. I didn't run, but if I did I probably
would've fainted when I saw this guy.
Cara smiled when I stopped dead in my tracks in the hallway. "This is-"
"Benjamin J. Ford, I'm known more as Ben" He kept his hand out for a shake.
"I-I'm Mirabelle Tabatha Day, .. I'm normally called Tabie." I shoke his hand, firm
hand shake for a guy this young.
Cara was a little embarrassed by the fact that her and Mike were calling me
Mirabelle, but i told her not to freak out. Mike was catching on slowly about my
little, ever growing crush on our apparent gardener AND neighbor. Lucky me. But Cara
took some time to figure why i was acting weird.
"So when does he work?" I asked Mike "Not that i want to see him, or avoid
Mike laughed. "Tuesday's,Wednesday's,Friday's and sometimes Saturday's"
"Dont laugh at me .. " I was starting to like Mike .. alittle more then Cara.
The next morning was strange. Ben was there, only for the reason it was Saturday and
it was his shift. But Mike was gone, so i was alittle quiet.
"Tabie, do want to go to the mall? You might like to be seen by some people there"
Cara yelled from the front door.
I ran down the stairs, my eyes saying a big 'NO!' but I dont think she got it.
"Come on, I'll get you some clothes." She said walking out of the house, to the
I sighed and stuck some old shoes on. "Okay" I mumbled.
All eyes on me. No lie. All the teens there were like staring at me, so were
the adults. But at least the adults said something to me, and not behind my back.
'Shes pretty!' , 'Oh, those eyes', and 'White as snow, but thats unique!'.
"Can we go?" I asked Cara.
"Not till we find something for you. " She responded, smiling. "This is cute......"
Around about five outfits and two hours after, we left the mall. For a more popular
site in the town, the coffee shop. I was in the spotlight, this time the teenagers
talked to me, but i didn't listen.
