Still in the mid-summer.
Jenny and Adam begin to not talk. They slowly drift away.
One afternoon, close to sunset, Jenny walked two houses down to Adams house.
She knocks 3 times on the door.
Its not him who answers the door. Its a stranger who looks to be Adam, but looks too
different. His eyes are deep and tired. He begins to grow small spikes of hair on
this chin, around his mouth. His hair had grown longer and an oder came from him that
"Adam?" She asked, in shock of his appearence.
"Yeah." He answered her in a dry tone.
"W-What happened to you?" She asked him, still in shock and confused.
"Uh, Life?" He answered her in a rude tone.
"Life? What life? I havent seen you leave this house for two weeks now." She said,

looking up to his face.
He swung her out the front door, basicaly throwing her.
"Stay away!" He yelled to her, slamming the door.
Jenny stood there, stunned. Her jaw dropped. This pain she had been feeling was like
the Matt feeling, but worse.
Her eyes began to tear up, and she heart sank. Then, she squinted her eyes and stood
up straight, marched to the door and banged on it.
"What?!" He yelled.
"What is your problem?!" She screamed at him.
"What do you mean whats my problem? Your the one with the problem!" He yelled.
She stood up infront of him. Theyre chests touching. They were starring eachother
Out of nowhere, he took his hands, put them to her shoulders, and pushed her to the
"Stay away from me!" He yelled, slamming the door for the last time and locking it
safe and secure.
She lied there, confused. She couldnt move.
She dragged herself to the side, in the grass, in a bush. She lied down and began to
This was another Matt feeling, but only, this was worse.
This was her best friend. Her life. Her only friend. The only thing she had in the
crazy world she lived in.
The night turned dark and the air was warm.
She cried herself to sleep in his front yard.
