the group spent the rest of the day traveling to the village, Which Eichiro
said was called Giaga. Mana wanted to ask Him about everything that has happened,
from his imprisenment to what happened in the temple. She was dying to know just what
was behind his bright green eyes... And she had a feeling Eichiro knew what was
behind her deep blue eyes. She tryed to ask him, but he remained silent. Mana soon
got frusterated and gave up. But there was something about Eichiro that wasn't
By evening, they could see the village. It wasn't like New York City or Calgary, but
it was still pretty big. Eichiro said they would rest for the night and go into town
tomorrow. Everyone settled down and fell asleep.
Everyone exept Mana.
Instead, when she was sure everyone was asleep, she let Spirit out of her pack. She
stretched and yawned. She didn't look like she was very comfortable.
"Do I have to stay with your stuff? It's cramped in there."
"Well, where else can you go?"
"Don't these 'back pack' things have a side pocket?"
Spirit was right. On the side of her pack, was a side pocket meant for a waterbottle,
but would suit Spirit.
"Alright, But don't complain later."
"OK! Thanks! G'night!" Spirit hopped in and got herself comfortable. Mana felt like a
mother. She wasn't sure if that was a bad thing or not.
She had to get some sleep, but ended up staying up before she did.
Mana was shooken awake by Eichiro. She sat up and stretched. She was having a more
peaceful sleep then usual...
as she slipped on her pack, she realised her sleeve had rolled up, showing some of
the crest from the sprites. She yanked the sleeve over it. She looked around to see
anyone noticed.Nobody seemed to, so she let out a sigh of relief, and followed them
into the village. Everything looked like it came from nature. The buildings looked
more like huts. Mana was more suprised to see the villagers were elves.
Males looked fit, but not healthy. They must have been going through hard times. The
females looked the same. Both genders were slightly taller then Humans of the same
age, and had long ears.
The elves stared at the group, with faces of awe and a little exitement. A few of the
elves looked like they were on the verge of death.
when they got to the center of Giaga, the came across another elf that stood out in
This elf was a male, but had blonde hair go down past his shoulders. He looked much
more healthy then the other elves. He was garbed in a tunic of gold and red. He
quickly noticed the group, and his face brightened when he saw Eichiro.
"Eichiro, is that you? After all these years?"
"It's only been four years, Etsuya."
"It seemed like much longer. When you went missing, everyone thought that you had
been captured by Shikuro."
"Well, i was, kinda..." Mana tried to understand his story, but had some difficulty.
"And you brought friends?" Etsuya looked behind him at the group. He stopped at Mana,
who was standing beside Eichiro. He gave a face of shock for a brief moment, but
quickly hid it.
"well...welcome back, Eichiro."
Etsuya invided the group to stay at his hut until they left Giaga. In many ways, his
hut was not different from a normal house. It had all the same rooms, exept
everything was from nature. Mana wandered into the living room. everything was from
nature, as the rest of the house. Only one thing looked unnatual. It was a vase being
used as a fishbowl for a Koi. The vase had a ring of smoke encircling it, like saturn
had it's rings. Mana had always been fasinated by Koi.
Eichiro introdiced the group.
"I have other guests staying here as well. A warloc and his student."
A warloc! A master of magic! Mana was now certain that this world had anything she or
anyone else could possibly imagine.
"Where are they?"
"You already met Fishi." He said, pointing to the Koi. Was that koi a warlock?
"What? That's a fish!"
"Not just a fish, Mana."
every head turned to the fish, who looked like it was smiling. The vase it was in
started to hover over the table it was on, and floated to the group, at eye level.
"Why do you stare? Is it because I am different then you?" Nobody knew how to
"I'm not different. I only lookdifferent." She swam a circle in his bowl to
face a corridor.
"My student! Come out of your room, and greet our guests!"
There came a clamour of objects crashing together, then a girl Shiki's age came out
of the door. She had bright pink hair and a simple dress, Which Mana assumed was
custom for trainees in Magic. She carried a thin stick, which Mana detirmined was her
wand. The most pecurlier thing about her was that two cat ears poked out of her head.
If she had blonde hair and lost the ears, She could be Shiki's twin sister!
"This is Hiki, My student and assistant."
Shiki and Hiki had almost the exact same name! could they be related? Mana could only
She noticed that Etsuya was staring at her the whole time with a hard glace. Mana
felt self-consious and tryed to hide behind her shoulders.
Etsuya suddenly dashed at Mana, and grabbed her right arm in a painful position,
bending it backwards. Any movement she made would make it hurt. Everyone stared at
him, wide-eyed and Jaw-dropped, including Fishi and his assistant.
"Mana, do you keep secrets from your friends?" He pulled back her sleeve to show the
whole crest. All the eyes went to Mana. Eichiro looked like he was violated. Mana
would do anything to dissapear right then.
"And what's this?" Etsuya reached into her waterbottle pocket, and pulled out Spirit,
Who was screaming and struggling to get free of his grip. He let Mana go, and she got
a good distance away from him. She wasn't sure if they were all staring at her for
what she did, or just the chock of having them.
"How did you know?"
"I'm the top magic trainer in Giaga, apart from Fishi. Nothing gets by me without me
Mana didn't know what to think. She needed to get away from them, to think and clear
her mind. She rushed out the front door, suprising the group. She could hear Eichiro
call her name behind her. She didn't want to be with Eichiro. Or anyone else. She
just wanted to be with her thoughts. She ran out of Giaga and into the forest until
she was sure Eichiro was long gone.
