Title: The Beast

She should have left me.
She was too sweet, too kind, too pure.
Her arms were made to cherish.
Her breaths were made for life.
Her hands were made for gentling innocent wrath.

She should have left me.
For I was built from darkness.
My bones are naught but cinders,
that flare to life in curling tendrils of smoke.
My anger knows no bounds.

But still she loved me.
And all the world knew it.
All the world knew what would happen to this fly.
She was drawn into my spider's web.
Captured, this captive.

And no one thought to warn her.
The stage was lit for all to see our end.
The tears were kept a secret from her eyes.
And yet they were shed -
by my own deceptive heart.

She should have left me.
Her heart had been beating.
In my arms she lay.
And in my arms she perished.
Her blood stained the carpet.

She did leave me.
