You said you'd stay
But all's you did was walk away
And now it's my turn
To play this game
No matter what I do
I'll never win with shame
I have so much to blame
But I'll keep my thoughts tamed

You told me you wouldn't leave
You would always be around
But once she came along
You left me with no sound

I'll follow you
But not too far
I'm not a sick puppy
And I'm not your slave
If you need me
Come see me
But don't say you'll stick around
When your thoughts say different

And my mind won't believe you
And my gut would pull away
But my heart is so vulnerable
So gullible, which make me stay

It convinces my body, my mind, and my soul, to keep me right beside you.
Right behind you.
Always near you, to surround you with my comfort

But no one behind me
No one beside me
No one surrounding me
It's me to save myself
It's me in this world
To learn the independence

I might go insane
But it's better than dealing with all of this pain
You'll always be safe
With my mind running loose
To help you get through everything they've done to you
But don't worry about me
My mind is already gone
And my hearts stuck on a different song
But my eyes know what to do
And my hands know where to go
So follow me into the light
It's a safe place, I know
You'll see your old grandpa you missed so much
And your dog scruffy, who loves to play fetch
Remember your Uncle, too?
He's waiting for you.
Follow me and I'll bring you there
No worries
No shame
You'll be safe here
