My grandmother's father wanted to move his whole family to germany because of world
war 2. He wanted to serve his country for what he thought was right. My grandmother
has many sad memories of her first 8 years. They were spent with fear. But she lived
a good life (and is still living one!). There was a time where a grenade was thrown
right into their very own house by a plane. If it hadn't been for her brave uncle,
well, I wouldn't be here right now. He picked up the grenade and threw it out of the
window where no one was ablle to get hurt. My grandmother's sister, Marlice, had
actually gone cross-eyed from being so terrified during the war! Her father also ws
killed in a plane while sering his country. She was devistated.
Once the war was over my grandmother's mother moved all of her four children from
germany to uruguay wherer they stayed for a very young time! This is where she met
her husband(my grandpa) who lived in france. After a while they became married and
moved to France where I stayed with them for a year. They now live together in
Florida where most of my family is (although I live in New York with my mom). My
grandma speaks English, Spanish, French, and German all fluently.
Now that is a part of my family's history!
