The story of Neon Genesis Evangelion takes
place in the year 2015 in Tokyo. Huge unknown entities called "Angels" are
threatening mankinds existence. The United Nations create a special a special agency
called NERV which develops the humanoid fighting machines called Evangelions to end
the angels threat. For an unknown reason only select 14 year olds can pilot the
monstrous Evangelion. The main character in the story is a young boy named Shinji
Ikari whose father happens to be the head of NERV. Shinji is called to the fortress
that protects the city known as Tokyo-3 to pilot one of the Evangelion. Shinji agrees
and so starts a story about fighting, surviving, and ambivalence.
was an extremely popular show in Japan, but has died down in recent years.
Nonetheless it still has many a fan. Most people who haven't seen Evangelion yet,
still think of it as another stupid mecha show about colossal robots destroying their
enemy, but Evangelion is far from that. Deeper into the series we start to find out
that the true meaning of the show, about what it means to be a human being, as we see
Shinji overcome big obstacles in his life. This is a title that definately deserves
any anime fans look.
