Is reflected on by my family and I on Memorial Day
Because he deserves it
And it's so hard to have him states away
He has always felt like an older brother to me
Because I needed his brotherly support and protectiveness
And that protection has been extended to not only protecting me from unworthy guys
but also protecting my freedom.
His senior year was a struggle for him.
His girlfriend turned up pregnant.
He was focuses on graduation.
He was going to marry the girl.
And he had decided to join the Marines.
There was some doubt about that last one
But we realizes how set upon it he was
And that we were holding him back
He graduated that year in May, and married his pregnant teen wife the next day. The
Marines and his son's birth was looming over his shoulder
The week after he went overseas, there was a terrible accident involving some
Marines. My family held our breath until we had reassurance he was fine.
That was 5 years ago.
He is now 22, and a father to a 3 year old son who extremely resembles him in every
way. The child's mother and him are no longer together. He now has the difficult
choice of doing another couple of years, and leave his child behind, or go to
I respect this man deeply, and I am very proud to call him my cousin. He has faced
many hardships, and had to grow up extremely quickly. Not everyone could have handled
This is the man I wish to praise on Memorial Day
