So I started reading the Grisha Trilogy and it takes place in Imperial Russia and as
most of you know I love role playing. I would love to make a club out of it but don't
have enough kp.
Grisha are magical beings(often called witches) that are led by the mysterious
Darkling. There are Corparalki which are The Order of the Living and the Dead,
Etherealki which are The Order of the Summoners, and Materialki which are The Order
of the Fabrikators. Within the Corparalki, there are the heartrenders and the
healers. The etherealki have Squallers, Inferni, and Tidemakers. The Materialki have
the Alkemi and and the Durasts. They all wear Kefta which are basically robes. Black
is only worn by the Darkling. Etherealki wear blue. Corporalki wear red. And lastly,
Materialki wear purple. Oh yeah and servants wear white or gold. The cufts on them
are sometimes different colors. Tidemakers wear pale blue, inferni have red cuffs,
and squallers wear silver. They are often called as "The Second Army" or "Practicers
of the Small Science". Now, time to get into the Shadow Fold. As you can see in the
map up above, there is this area called The Unsea but the actual name is The Shadow
Fold. Its where Volcra live and its where the darkness is. Its an ocean and separates
the west and the east of Ravka. It also separates the Vy which is a long road that
goes from East to West. When people cross the sea, they call it the crossing and they
lose people every time it happens. In the book, Alina Starkov is on the crossing
until they are attacked. She protects her friend Mal and turns out she's a Grisha.
Not just that but a rare Grisha. She's a sun summoner. I didn't think I'd like the
book but it's really interesting. Plus I'm learning Russian.
