The tiny red sedan was rolling down a dusty country road. Louisa was singing
along with the radio (quite out of tune if I may add) as I tapped the beat out.
Little Joey was asleep in his carseat with a trickle of drool rolling down his
dinosaur t-shirt. The buildings on the old country landscape began to thin and soon
all there was was the occasional dead tree and prairies as far as you could see.
Suddenly The radio began to cut out and the numbers on the tiny screen began to soar
through different numbers by the millisecond. Louisa finally turned it off. "Great,"
I said grumpily "you know you're in the middle of nowhere when you run out of radio
stations." " Come on cheer up Delaney, we're almost there, maybe if you stop
grumbling you might even enjoy it, and you better get used to it, this is your new
home!" Said Lousia. "But home was -" I began until I remembered, I never really had a
home, unless you counted all the snooty rich foster homes where they only kept me for
the money from the government. Louisa quieted and let me be, just the way I liked it.
I didn't like being questioned about old lives with different families. This was
supposed to be our new, safe, life, nobody mentioned anything about it being
enjoyable though, and that was one thing it wasn't . They rolled into a gravel
laneway to a large farmhouse. "Ok kids," Louisa began "we're home!"
