The soldier sets foot,
on the battleground.
All the carnage,
sitting all around.

The robed villians,
with guns at the ready.
His stance squared,
he stands steady.

before he starts,
he thinks of his sons.
he thinks of the times,
of how they had fun.

and then at the train station,
saying their goodbyes.
he turns away,
as his older son cries.

then the fight ensues,
and he fights with his heart.
then the wagon come,
that solmn cart.

later at base,
the lieutenant phones the wives.
of those brave soldiers,
who lost their lives.

"are you sure,"
our soldiers wife does sob.
She glances at the younger son,
"Go play Rob."

*Yes mam i'm sorry,*
the luietnant replies.
she sits silent,
she sits and cries.

"When will i recive,
his body and bags?"
*i'm sorry mam,
we only found his tags*
