There are three types of exhaustion. The first is physical exhaustion, in which your
body and muscles are worn out and need rest. The second is mental exhaustion, in
which your mind is worn out and needs rest. The third is emotional exhaustion. A lot
of people probably think that mental exhaustion and emotional exhaustion are the
same, but there is a difference. With mental exhaustion, the best way to describe it
is to say, "I'm tired of thinking, and I want to go to bed." With emotional
exhaustion, however, it goes deeper than that. Emotional exhaustion is more along the
lines of, "I'm tired of feeling, and I want to go to bed." See the difference? Mental
exhaustion is a lot lighter than emotional because you're just tired. Emotional
exhaustion is heavier and deeper than mental exhaustion because it's caused by
negative feelings, such as depression or anxiety. It wears you out on a whole new
level from the others. And it's a lot harder to recover from.
