Ereya Chloris, a seventeen year old girl from Galia, a small town dreams of
exploring the realm she lives on, Teruma. But, because of her curiosity, she ends up
getting her wish the wrong way. Now, she's off to explore the whole of Lire. And to
the vanquished golden city of Iona.
That morning was exceptionally bright and sunny. Usually, I wouldn't care about the
weather. I'd just relax and do my homework with Destiny's help. But, all that
morning, I was jumpy although I wasn't fully excited. My plate had almost slipped out
of my hands during when I was washing it. I was preoccupied.
And my family had known it.
I haven't been this nervous ever since I was six and I got lost in the marketplace.
While we were going to school, Destiny tried to say some comforting thoughts for me.
Obviously, she would pass. She's well-behaved and everything. I, on the other hand,
isn't. Mrs. Tinners, our principal is a scowling lady who lost her husband in the war
during when Deria was attacked by the Nariads. Because of that, she had a permanent
frown on her face. I've only been to her office once, when I accidentally slept
during Proper Manners class. She seemed fine and kind and all that.
When I entered the school, Tania noticed immediately the black surrounding my eyes
and as a best friend, she worried. All that morning she kept saying, "Of course,
you'll pass." She didn't convince me much though. That dream took a lot out of my
During History was when the elementary school students would be interrogated. I mean,
interviewed. I sighed and looked at the cover of my History book which showed an
accurate size of Lire. I could see Deria, the desert land and to the north a ways
journey by sea was Winora. Then to the west filled with milions of lines referring to
rivers, was Sater.
And, in the middle of the seas was the middle and golden kingdom, Iona. Of course,
Iona had been conquered by the Nariads long ago. Probably a decade before I was born.
At least, that's what Destiny said.
Ms. Pratts was pointing with her meter stick, a major river in Sater, the Roll. I was
paying attention for a while, to show the school that I was at least trying. Although
my reputation wouldn't change in a matter of minutes.
After lunch break, Mrs. Tinners would be interviewing the high-schoolers. I had some
time to panic because my class would be the sixth to be interviewed. That huge (I
think) timespan just made more anxious and shaky. I was trying not to be nervous and
worried, but when I am, I can't help it.
When Ms. Pratts called out, "Next." She paused and said with a listless voice, "Ereya
Chloris." I could see a shadow of a smirk. I walked towards the door and into Mrs.
Tinner's principal room. She looked at me, and smiled as if she expected no less.
Putting down a piece of paper, she gestured towards a seat and I sat at the end of it
that I thought I would eventually fall down. I gulped and tried to smile at her.
Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 [And soon Chapter 6] is all part of one chapter. I thought
that it would be too big to put on one diary though because it was too long. The
characters here are really boring. I'm just laying out stuff so that people would
know what's up in the later chapters.
Hint. Around Chapter 8, Bloom (Lora's character) will come out as a painter.
Hint. Around Chapter 8 also, you will also meet Irene (Moje's character).
Hint. Around Chapter 9 or 10, Tomo's character, Raine, will appear as an animal
care-taker [Hey, Tomo! Look out for Tinky on this one.]
Hint. In Deria (This will be in later chapters), Reya and Zoe's characters will come
out. Reya's character will be around more but Zoe's will play a huge role in the
