It was a matter of touch
the process of learning the texture
through words we carved our chosen future
through victory and failure we drew closer

a sound that forces your eyes shut
signaling fingertips to begin a blind search
for a familiar texture
the one you sank into every night
with me

we spoke directly into each other's mouths
about what colors we could add to the texture
about what light we could feel safe in
and how could I let go of something we
built so carefully?
I slide my fingers through the web
and pull it down around me
to whisper in my mind your soul-touch
