A Drug That Makes You Dream

You were like a drug,
So sweet, curious, and just so addicting.
I thought once was enough,
But I kept coming back for more.
You made me dream impossible dreams,
Praying for the sweetest things.
You let me reach out,
To try to touch the bright shining sun.
You embraced me so lovingly,
I almost thought that your love was true.
But you corrupted me,
Twisting your way through my body.
You corroded forcefully into my heart.
I almost let you in, because I thought I could believe,
That you would continue to let me dream so sweetly.
And I knew this wasn’t love,
Yet I still longed for your touch.
Because you were a drug that made me dream.
